Records go missing from DEO’s office
Sports fund scam cover-up suspected

In a shocking development, records involving sports fund have gone missing from the office of the district education officer (elementary) pending an inquiry into the embezzlement of funds. The theft came to light yesterday when class IV employee Avtar Singh reached the office around 8.30 am.

Unipole numbers match: MC

The municipal corporation has claimed that the number of unipoles/hoardings, promoting products or companies, put up in the city was in consonance with that allocated officially and that it had no vested interest in promoting illegal hoardings. The corporation authorities have further said the figure from the department can be tallied with the total number of unipoles put up in the city. Those mushrooming “illegally” on major roads in the city are of religious nature and getting the patronage of political leaders.

More skeletons are tumbling out of the closet of the department of ADC(D). After being booked for siphoning off Indira Awas Yojna funds, Junior Assistant Varinder Kumar of OBC Bank, Feroze Gandhi Market, has been booked again for embezzling funds.

Criminal negligence
The pitiable condition of the roads in the industrial capital of the state speaks volumes about the inefficiency and insensitivity of the civic administration towards the pathetic plight of the people. With the arrest of three persons, the police has claimed to have busted an inter-state gang.
