Congress workers sat outside the Kotwali police station against the police action. The name of Rawat is missing from all inauguration plates. Congress workers destroyed these plates after their ultimatum deadline for getting the name of the parliamentarian inscribed on these got expired today. Cornering the mela administration for toeing the BJP line, former State Women Commission head Santosh Chauhan said there were nine seats in the Haridwar constituency and thus Harish Rawat as an MP represented all of them too. “So this is totally uncalled for not including his name on Kumbh works’ plates,” said Chauhan, who is general secretary of the Mahila Congress. JP Pandey, founder of the manch, said such an example would not be found in any part of the country. With several district office-bearers and former state ministers taking part in the agitation, party activists blocked traffic leading to huge traffic jams in the city. Addressing the gathering, Jamdagni lashed out at the Congress for its inability to control growing prices of pulses and other essential commodities.
