Campaign against social evils: With massive participation in a rally here, the women wing of the Youth Welfare Federation, affiliated with the Dera Sacha Sauda, on Tuesday, kick-started its campaign in Punjab against female foeticide, drugs, dowry. The rally was flagged off by the DSP Tarun Rattan Sharma.The federation artists Ankur Gudiya, Nisha Rani, Renu Gandhi, Saroj Rani and Bhupinder Kaur presented a skit on the drugs.

Assn reconstituted: The Punjab Public Relations Officers’ Association has been reconstituted after the dissolution of the previous association. The entire team headed by Harjeet Singh Grewal, DPRO, Rupnagar, was elected unanimously for a period of two years. Disclosing this here on Tuesday, presiding officer Sukhdev Singh Randhawa, deputy director, said it was for the first time that the entire team was elected unanimously. Shikha Nehra, PRO, has been elected as senior vice-president; Satnam Singh Chinna, DPRO, Tarn Taran, as vice-president; Ajit Kanwal Singh, PRO to Chief Minister, as Punjab general secretary; KL Rattu, PRO (Production), as finance secretary and Gurmeet Singh Dhugga, DPRO, Jalandhar, would be the press secretary.

Student pledges to donate body: A 24-year-old student of Punjabi University, Patiala, hailing from Hari Nau village of Faridkot district, has signed a will to donate her body for the study of human anatomy. Sukhvir Kaur while appealing to the youths to come forward to promote the cause of human body donation said her body could be beneficial for advanced studies on various diseases. More than 10 women of this district had already signed their wills to donate their bodies to medical colleges during the past few years.

Punjabi Parbodh exam: The Punjab Public Service Commission has decided to hold a special Punjabi Parbodh Examination for the benefit of candidates appearing in the upcoming PCS examinations. The examination is being held for the candidates who have not passed the Punjabi subject of the matriculation standard.
