Smoking at public places

The elite club of the city, Sutlej Club, is in the news again, but for wrong reasons this time.
The club, also known as the Officers’ Club with the Deputy Commissioner as its ex-officio president, has earned the wrath of Punjab State Human Rights Commission
(PSHRC) for creating a smoking area in a portion of the club in violation of the Central government notification on smoking at public places.

DC orders probe

Deputy commissioner Vikas Garg has ordered an inquiry to find out whether the city administration had granted permission for loud music to be played by a DJ at a wedding function at Club Nirwana on December 11 night.
Two linesmen thrashed

Two linesmen of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) were allegedly thrashed by residents of Durgapuri in Haibowal Kalan here today.
According to the victims, they were replacing the 11Kv wire, which got burnt following a short circuit.

6 link roads inaugurated
