Soon, four more substations in Roorkee
Roorkee, September 2 These substations would help to alleviate the power related problems like overloading, low voltage and voltage fluctuation here in the area, said XEN BM Parmar. It is to be noted that fluctuation or low voltage, every now and then, causes damages to the expensive gadgets of many of the people of the localities like Civil Lines, Ram Nagar, Awas Nagar. Apart from that, burning of transformers and snapping of power cables due to overload are very common phenomena here. Parmar said the manifold increase in the number of electricity connections over the last couple of years, power pilferage and over-consumption were the main factors behind these problems. As the installation of substations would help in reducing the pressure on the already installed transformers and distribution centres, the problems would be solved to a large extent, he said. He also added that the department had also planned to set up one more feeder in the Khanjarpur area. At the moment there is only one feeder there. While one feeder would supply the power to the small colonies of the area, the second would be responsible for the power supply to Jorassi village. Apart from that, all electricity cables would be changed immediately in Roorkee to improve the distribution system. Parmar said, “The tenders have already been floated and It will take around three months to start installation of the substations,” said Parmar. |

The government has reduced the duty on agreement to sell a property from 7 per cent to 4 per cent payable on half the amount of consideration. The public will be the direct beneficiary as less amount of duty has to be paid at the time of agreeing to sell property. The government, however, will neither gain nor lose in terms of revenue because there is no change in the duty payable at the time of registration of sale deed. The government has also notified reduction of duty on lease agreement of a property up to 30 years from existing 8 per cent in urban and 7 per cent in rural areas to 2 per cent. This is the most significant reduction in stamp duty rates since the state came into being. This decision, however, means revenue loss to the government. |
