2 KV boys go missing
Were ‘caught’ with a girl student in school toilet
Chandigarh, August 29
Two Class IX boys (14) of a city-based Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) have gone missing after one of them was caught allegedly with a girl classmate in a toilet of the school yesterday.

Another bombshell found at plant site

Just four days after the recovery of two bombshells in the garbage heap at Jaypee Garbage Disposal plant at Dadumajra, one more bombshell was found from the trash being piled up at the plant today. Two bombshells were found from the plant on August 25 also.

Experts visit garbage plant
Chandigarh, August 29
A three-member committee, including Dr Avinash Akolkar, scientist of the Centre for Pollution Control Board, Dr V Pandey of the Chandigarh Pollution Control Board and Dr Garg of the Punjab Pollution Control Board, today visited the garbage processing plant at Dadu Majra for monitoring its performance and reasons of the foul smell around the site.

Drowning of Mohali Boy
Police fails to arrest accused
Parents to move HC
Rajpura, August 29
The parents of Sahil Sharma (19) of Mohali, who drowned in Bhakra-Narwana canal on August 10 in Rajpura, today decided to move the High Court against the “failure” of the police to arrest the six accused involved in the alleged murder of their son. Six students of SD College, Sector-32, identified as Manjot Singh, Sikander Sharma, Jasjit Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Sanjiv Rao, all from Chandigarh, and Abhishesk Sud from Mohali, were booked on the charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.

HUDA official seeks report

Taking a strong note of tree chopping, allegedly at the instance of Inspector General of Police Mohd Mustafa, Punjab, and subsequent withdrawal of the police complaint in this regard by the horticulture department, HUDA chief administrator TC Gupta has asked the superintending engineer, horticulture, to submit a report to him.

Societies seek land rates on lines of Chandigarh

Even as the Executive Committee (EC) of GMADA has not been able to decide the rates of allotment of land to 13 cooperative house building societies during its previous meetings, members of the societies have urged the Punjab Chief Minister to fix the land rates on the pattern of Chandigarh and Panchkula.

Man acquitted in robbery case

The District and Sessions Judge has acquitted one of the accused in a drugging and robbing incident that took place in Sector 4 here on January 7, as the prosecution failed to provide any evidence in the case.

14 booked for brawl at P’kula hotel

Following a brawl in a late-night party at a Sector 8 hotel here, the police has booked a 14 persons, including the hotel owner.

Woman gets 5-year jail for looting people
Chandigarh, August 29
A local court today sentenced Sushma Bansal to five-year imprisonment and a Rs 2,000 fine under Section 328 of the IPC and three-year imprisonment and Rs 2,000 fine under Section 382 of the IPC.
