For the past five years, Rahul Singh had been virtually living for cricket. He was keeping awake at nights to work so that he could arrange money for playing during the daytime. But the fate had willed otherwise when the doctors yesterday declared that he would not be able to play.
The promising career of a cricketer, known as ‘‘budding Brett Lee’’ for his right arm medium pace bowling, ended abruptly when his left eye had to be removed after it was perforated by a bullet that hit him after an IRB cop shot it accidentally in the air yesterday.

Boy held for kidnapping minor
