Ban on sale of non-ISI mark helmets

The Chandigarh Administration has prohibited the sale of non-ISI mark helmets in the city. The district magistrate, R.K. Rao has asked for immediate check on the sale of non-ISI mark poor quality helmets in order to ward off danger to human life and to prevent the gullible from buying a cheap/poor non-ISI headgear.

The effort of making the city smoke-free, which was on top of the agenda of the UT administration, has failed to since its implementation last year. Only 1,272 challans have been issued in past 16 months.

Sukhna Tragedy
Ranjan died due to drowning: Report
Chandigarh, November 5
The police today said the post-mortem of Ranjan, who drowned at Sukhna Lake on Monday, confirmed that the death was caused due to asphyxia by drowning. Sources in the police said the viscera sample of the victim had been taken and would be sent for chemical examination.

Woman dies of bee stings
Kharar, November 5 Gurpreet Kaur (23), a resident of Badali village, died of bee stings today. Gurpreet Kaur was married to Lakhvir Singh around eight months ago. She was six-month pregnant. At around 10 am, Gurpreet was working outside her home storing cow dung cakes, when a swarm of bees attacked her.

School buses told to install speed governors by December 1
Chandigarh, November 5
The Chandigarh administration has fixed December 1 as the deadline for installing speed governors in the school buses to prevent accidents. It has been directed that the speed governors will be installed in such a way that the vehicle is incapable of being driven at a speed of 40 km per hour under Section 112 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped on the night of Diwali at her home in village Bhagomajra Bairopur. In her complaint to the SSP, Mohali, the victim has stated that on October 28, she was washing utensils in her home with her maternal aunt.

26-year-old commits suicide

A 26-year-old resident of Sohana allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance. According to the police, Shankar, who sold vegetables on a rehri in the village.
