Cops up vigilance in marketplaces
New Delhi, July 31 Crowded marketplaces, which are usually the target of the terrorist organisations for maximum impact, are high on the priority of the police. The police is also holding informal meetings with the shopkeepers and office-bearers of market organisations like Kamla Nagar Market, Chandni Chowk, South Extension, Connaught Place, Chowri Bazaar etc. “The aim is to instill a feeling of responsibility among the common man. The fight against terror is not only the responsibility of the police but every countryman. By interacting with the common man we are seeking their support by asking them to be more vigilant about the things and people around them,” said a police official. Besides, the police is also using public address systems in busy markets to educate people there to be more observant. It has also built barricades and placed sandbags in case of any eventuality. With the Independence Day inching closer, the police has already cordoned off the Red Fort area and a strong contingent of security personnel has been deployed there. “The security on Republic and Independence Days has always been foolproof. But with the recent terrorist attacks in the country, the security personnel are very concerned and determined about their job,” told a security personnel at barricade before the Red Fort. |

Ranvir first slit the throat of his brother Sukhvir and then ruthlessly shot six other members of the family, including a two year old boy. The victims also included two pregnant daughter-in-laws. The police has arrested Ranvir and recovered a blood-stained sickle, two revolvers, seven live cartridges and the ladder used in the crime. According to DIG Meerut Range, P.V. Elevated road from Kale Khan to Nehru Stadium soon
New Delhi, July 31 EFC chairman and Delhi finance minister A. K. Walia informed that an elevated road over Barapullah Nallah starting from Sarai-Kale Khan to Jawahar Lal Nehru
(JLN) stadium would be constructed to facilitate movement of 10,000 players during Commonwealth Games. The chairman stated that an amount of Rs 499 crore would be released for the construction of the elevated road within 24 months of the award of the work. This project is an important infrastructure, which would not only prove to be beneficial during the Games but would also become a permanent link between East Delhi and Central Delhi. 51% people suffer from back pain in Delhi: Survey
New Delhi, July 31
According to these studies, working for more than 8 - 10 hrs continuously in a day at the computer has depleted both the mental and physical condition of the employees. Backache has emerged as one of the lifestyle problems for the metropolitans and especially for those who are working in a 24X7 work environment like call centres and BPOs. According to a survey conducted by Health India, an NGO, 51% of people in Delhi are suffering from back pain whereas in Mumbai, it is 56%. Surprisingly they don’t know the exact reason behind it and often blame it on a sagging mattress or driving over pot-holed roads. “Faulty sitting posture is one of the leading causes of back pain among white-collared workers,” says Dr Yash Gulati, sr. consultant, Orthopaedic, Apollo Hospital here. He says, “One should take precautionary measures on the very onset of pain like applying a hot water bottle or gently massaging the affected area with an ayurvedic pain relief ointment. A doctor should be immediately consulted if the pain persists.” Usually, people are ignorant about their sitting style as most of them are unaware of the correct sitting posture. “If your sitting posture is not perfect then you may be in for a problem. Try to maintain straight sitting posture with chair back support as long as possible and apply some pain relief balm for the immediate relief,” advises Dr Gulati. Research shows that the office ergonomics is the leading factor apart from obesity that contributes to backache. Normally, brighter lighting or sources that cause glare on the monitor lead to eyestrain or headaches which normally force one to work in awkward postures in order to have a better view of the screen. According to experts, to maintain a healthy back you need to maintain ergonomic seating while working at the computer workstation like ensuring that your hands, wrists, and forearms are in a row, straight, and almost parallel to the floor and that your head and torso are in line with the head slightly bent forward, facing towards the front and balanced. Also one should ensure that the shoulders are at ease with upper arms hanging normally at the sides of the body and elbows close to the body and bent between 90 and 110 degrees. The feet should be either supported by a footrest or should be relaxing on the floor with knees and hips at almost the same height with your feet slightly forward. |
