Teej Mela on August 3:
The Bharat Vikas Parisad, (BVP) Mansa would organise a Teej Mela on the August 3. In this fair, various artistes would perform in the fair. On this occasion, MP Pramjeet Kaur Gulsan would be present. This mela would be organised at Senior Secondary School (Boys), Mansa.

Proper identification:
District Magistrate C.P. Varma here has asked all persons who have any tenants or are employing domestic help to ensure proper identification and registration of such persons at the police station. A notification issued here on Thurday said that this was essential under the law and any breach in this matter would be viewed seriously and action taken under Section 188 of the I.P.C.

Indoria
Police appeal:
K.K. SP, here has urged all citizens to be cautious and vigilant and report presence of any stranger or suspicious activities or movements around them and report the same to the police. Indoria said that this had been necessitated due to incidents of a number of bomb blasts at several places and the measure was essential for public safety. He said police had intensified its patrolling and checking at all sensitive points and important public places while nakas have been put on all borders as a precaution.

KANGRA
Youth killed:
A 23-year-old youth was killed on the spot when his motor cycle dashed against a tree near Thanpuri on Pathankot Mandi national highway in this subdivision on Wednesday. A passer-by found the body lying in the wild grass along the highway, the police said here on Thursday.. The deceased youth has been identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Mumta village of this subdivision. 

SHIMLA
Lakhanpal appointed:
Inder Dutt Lakhanpal of Hamirpur has been appointed chief convener of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Sewa Dal. A spokesperson of the party said that the appointment had been made by chief convener of the Akhil Bharatiya Congress Sewa Dal Mahendra Joshi with the approval of party chief Sonia Gandhi.

HIMFED Board: The government on Thursday said that Col G.R. Jamwal (retd) would be the president of the HIMFED Board. Col Jamwal belongs to Dera village in Jogindernagar in Mandi district. The government had recently constituted the nominated Board of HIMFED.

Mehta elected: Narender Mehta was today unanimously elected president of the Himachal Pradesh Consumer Fora Employees Welfare Association. Others elected are: Birl Singh- vice-president, Vipin Sharma- general secretary, Papinder Singh Thakur-treasurer, Ramesh Thakur and Dev Raj Sharma executive members.

Gautam Sen takes charge:
Gautam Sen, an Indian Defence Accounts Service Officer, 1976 batch, has taken over as the principal controller, Defence Accounts (PCDA) of the Army's Northern Command at Jammu, an official spokesman said on Thursday. “Sen took over the charge as PCDA yesterday,” the spokesman said.

SRINAGAR
Three dead, 2 hurt:
Three persons were killed and two others were injured in separate accidents in the Kashmir valley on Thursday. Official sources said Shabir Ahmad Sofi (16) was killed on the spot and two others were injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling met with an accident near the Kashmir university gate at Hazratbal. Meanwhile, one Sonaullah Kutay was injured after being hit by a vehicle at Bijbehara in Anantnag district. He was admitted to the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura where he later died. Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified person was recovered from near a hospital here.
