HC refuses to stay declaration of results
Chandigarh, May 14
The Punjab and Haryana High Court today refused to stay the declaration of results of panchayat samitis and zila parishad elections held in Punjab. In a related development, the State Election Commission informed the high court that all lambardars had been allowed to contest the gram panchayat elections.

Badal for time-bound action programme
Safe drinking water for all

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today called for chalking out a multi-pronged time-bound strategy to achieve the objective of “safe drinking water for all” through proper monitoring of rural water supply schemes by the application of reverse osmosis (RO), silver ionisation and ultra-violet techniques depending on the quality of water.
