Sirsa to get Rs 10-cr grant from Centre
Sirsa, November 26 The Central scheme, which covers 147 districts all over the country, will be extended to 250 districts. Sirsa was the only district of Haryana to be covered under the scheme. From the next year, Mahendragarh will also be brought under its ambit. Sirsa Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Yadav, who is also the CEO of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), implementing authority of the scheme said timeframe of three years fixed for the scheme had also been removed. "Now, the district will continue to get annual grant of Rs 10 crore for infrastructure and other facilities for the welfare of residents," he said, adding under the RSVY, Rs 45 crore was earmarked for the district to be spent in three years. He asserted of Rs 30 crore received under the RSVY till date, nearly Rs 24 crore had been spent on the construction of 220 schoolrooms, repair of "khals" for better irrigation, construction and repair of rural link roads and renovation of the general hospital here. Ventures to be executed with the special financial package include establishing a veterinary polyclinic at Rs 2 crore, a school for the visually challenged and filling of missing gaps in development process. Mr Yadav stated water-harvesting set-ups would be established in all schools of the district. Special halls would be constructed on the premises of all government senior secondary school for the Edusat system which would also be provided in the primary schools in a phased manner. |

Chandigarh, November 26 Similarly, work had also started to four-lane the Zirakpur-Panchkula-Kalka stretch of National Highway number 22. He said old bridges were being repaired and widened with the help of a loan of Rs 60 crore from Nabard and a project costing Rs 371 crore had been prepared to upgrade all bypasses falling in the National Capital Region. The work on four-laning of the 140-km stretch of National Highway number 10 (Delhi-Rohtak-Hisar-Sirsa) had also started.To ease traffic from Faridabad to Delhi, work on National Highway Number 2, known as the Badarpur project, had also started at a cost of Rs 267.50 crore for constructing a six-lane highway. The Gurgaon-Faridabad road was also being four-laned. |
Councillor resigns, blow to parishad Ambala, November 26 He cited "difference of opinion" as the reason for resignation. Mr Garg's exit will be a blow to Vikas Parishad since he was a municipal councillor for the fourth time and had also been leader of the Vikas Parishad municipal councillors in Municipal Council Ambala Sadar. Mr Garg was elected from Ward No.2. He said from now onwards he was an independent municipal councillor and would continue to serve his ward and the MC in that capacity. He said the Vikas Parishad should strive to solve the problems of the people and not waste the time of the organisation in personal enmity. He said he would not be joining any political party. |
Couple strangled
Yamunanagar, November 26 Adopted daughter of the couple Rajni (15) who was in the house at the time of the incident told the police that four to five men wearing masks had come to the house and attacked the couple Gajye Singh and Bhagirathi Devi, who were sleeping. She said when she tried to raise the alarm the men gagged her. Police sources said seven acres were in the name of the couple and a few months ago they had sold an equal piece of land for lakhs. Mr Phool Chand, brother of Gagye Singh reportedly told the police the couple lived in a separate house along with Rajni. Mr Phool Singh and Gagye Singh had 28 acres in their name. The two brothers had sold seven acres each six months ago. A case of murder has been registered. |
Bus falls into canal, 6 injured
Hisar, November 26 According to the police, the bus belonging to New Yashoda Public School, Hisar was on its way to Pinjore Gardens.The driver of the bus lost control when a cow came in the middle of the road and the vehicle fell into a canal which had no water. The six injured included two school teachers, Ms Sushila and Ms Raj Bala, three students, Dev, Dhiksha and Abhinav, and Shiv Kumar, the bus driver. The injured, after first aid, were sent back to Hisar by a police vehicle.
