Freedom fighters’ appeal to HP Govt
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, October 1
The Himachal Government has allowed 2 per cent reservation in direct recruitment to class I, II, III, IV, posts to freedom fighters. The recruitment agencies, however, are not implementing it in its true spirit. This 2 per cent reservation has been further divided between general and S.C. freedom fighters. There is hardly 1 per cent strength of freedom fighters in Himachal, said Mr Tan Sen Kayastha, President of the Freedom Fighters Association of Himachal, in a statement.

The posts reserved for SC freedom fighters are being doled out to general SC candidates due to the non-availability of suitable candidates from the SC category, depriving general freedom fighters of their just and genuine right.

This practice needed to be checked forthwith so that the freedom fighters do not suffer further. Moreover, the total posts that fall in the share of SC freedom fighters but had been filled from among SC (general) freedom fighters should be worked out and general candidates adjusted accordingly.

Mr Kayastha hoped that the state government would take expeditious steps to undo the damage done to general freedom fighters.
