PM to visit city on September 27

A red carpet reception awaits the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, on his visit to the city on September 27. Preparations are in full swing for the Prime Minister’s visit. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the prestigious North-East Railway Freight Corridor. He will also lay the foundation stone of a chain of cold stores belonging to Bharti’s Farm Fresh Food Ltd. The farm is spread over 300 acres.

A migrant labourer couple has alleged that their two-month-old boy was “kidnapped” three days ago but the police has neither registered a case nor made much efforts to trace him.

According to information, PUDA officials have directed the local sub-tehsil officials to produce revenue records pertaining to all these unauthorised colonies.

Cops ‘extort’ money from scrap dealers

Members of the Moulders and Steel Workers Union today staged a dharna outside the Focal Point police station in protest against some police personnel, who extorted money from them by beating them up.

MCPI(U) holds rally

2 get police remand for murder
Ludhiana, September 17
Two men — Lakhvinder Singh and Amandeep Singh — accused of murder, who were arrested by the Ludhiana police and brought here on production warrant by the Khanna police, were remanded in police custody till September 19 by a local court today.

Artificial limbs given to 40 persons

The Bharat Vikas Parishad, Dr Kitchlu branch, in association with the Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust, Punjab, organised a “viklang sahayata camp” at Viklang Sahayata Kendra in Rishi Nagar here today. On this occasion, artificial limbs and clippers were distributed free of cost among 40 persons.

PHDCCI to hold cycle rally

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has announced the launch of ‘Hunooz Dilli Door Nast’, a campaign to promote Delhi as the host for Commonwealth Games. The chamber will hold a cycle race in Delhi on November 12.
