In a decision which may bring cheer to slum-dwellers, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to lease out one-room tenements in Sector 56 here to slum-dwellers on an annual rent of Rs 1,000.

"Hindutva is the core of nationalism," said Justice M. Rama Jois, former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, delivering the presidential address at a national seminar on "Hindutva: Its Relevance" to a huge gathering at Panjab University here today. Justice Jois who has also been the governer of Bihar and Jharkhand talked at length at the Law auditorium stressing that Hindutva was relevant even today as it was essentially the same as dharma.

Pulse polio: Mohali meets 64 pc target on day 1
Mohali, September 17
As many as 66,944 children between the ages of 0 to 5 years were administered polio immunisation drops in SAS Nagar district today, meeting almost 64 per cent of the target. According to the Civil Surgeon, Dr MS Toor, today’s campaign is part of the supplementary pulse polio campaign specially launched for Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar and SAS Nagar, following the detection of a polio patient at Kajheri village in Chandigarh.

Over 1 lakh kids get polio drops

Under the Pulse Polio Campaign, 1,01,161 children in the age group of 0-5 were given two additional drops of polio vaccine in the city today. The UT Health Department had divided the city into three zones with 461 booths and mobile teams for the purpose.
