Farmers may get Rs 20 as bonus on wheat

The Union Government is expected to give Rs 20 per quintal as bonus on wheat. The Punjab Government has sought Rs 50 per quintal increase in the Minimum Support Price of wheat.

Mr Justice Jasbir Singh of the Punjab and Haryana High Court today directed that the election petition filed by Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) activist Harkirat Singh, challenging the election of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh from Patiala Assembly constituency in the February 2002 elections, be listed before some other Bench after taking necessary orders from the Chief Justice.

Shanti Devi who died on January 5 was allegedly strangled as she had seen her granddaughter in a compromising position with Satwinder Singh. This was stated by Dimple, daughter of Manohar Lal, of Rathore Mohalla, Fazilka, in a complaint to the police yesterday.

Doctor shot dead
Abohar, February 15
Dr Sheo Ram Swami, an ayurvedic practitioner posted at the government dispensary in Baruwali village in the neighboring area of Rajasthan, was allegedly shot dead late last evening, police sources said.
