Mad rush to get co-op societies registered
Faridabad, February 10 Faridabad and Gurgaon are among the districts where the government had announced allotment of plots to the cooperative groups housing societies a few months ago. But the process got entangled in hurdles as soon as the department announced to change the language and contents of the affidavit that was to be submitted by the proposed Cooperative Group Housing Societies (CGHS) and the applicants were informed that the affidavits they had submitted or prepared for the registration of the society were invalid and they were required to submit fresh affidavits for the purpose. ‘This move by the head office led to major confusion and chaos at the office of the Assistant Registrar at both Faridabad and Gurgaon, claimed a resident, who had applied at both these places. He said while the government was expected to revise the last date and signs to this effect had been given by the officials concerned no announcement led to a surge of applicants in the office of the Assistant Registrars in both the cities. While the normal work suffered heavily due to heavy and unexpected rush, the officials concerned had to call the police to control the people thronging these offices for several continuous days. It is learnt that the problem of the staff shortage in the office here had been taken up with the authorities at Chandigarh on many occasions but not a single clerk or inspector was provided, though there had been adequate staff available at other district offices of the cooperative department. An applicant who had still been awaiting registration of the society alleged that all problems were artificial and had led to corruption and bribery, though the Assistant Registrar here denied such charges. He appealed to the applicants to contact her in case of any problem. But a majority of the people lined up in the office here and Gurgaon claimed that they had not been able to meet any responsible official and their grievance stayed as usual for past many days. The situation turned serious recently when the Assistant Registrar posted here was given the charge of Gurgaon office also despite the fact that this office had already been unable to handle the pending work. The police had to use mild force to disperse the crowd and the chaos led to stalling of the work at several occasions. The officials concerned here had to shift to an unknown spot for doing the official work as the crowd at the office had made the work nearly impossible, said a source in the office. |

Properties of widows of anti-Sikh riots
New Delhi, February 10 The Deputy Leader of Opposition, Mr Onkar Singh Thapar, tabled the proposal before the House to exempt the properties of the widows of 1984 anti-Sikh riots. According to sources in the MCD, the ruling party in the Corporation first had second thought over the proposal, as they were apprehensive that the BJP would take the credit for the proposal. However, it was passed after getting the proposal signed by Ms Wrayam Kaur, former Deputy Mayor, who also belongs to the Sikh community. Consultant murdered in Gurgaon
Gurgaon, February 10 The deceased used to provide consultancy to supermarkets in the national capital region (NCR). Last night, he was said to have visited Gurgaon on a business assignment. The police have registered a case in the matter on a complaint of the deceased’s brother-in-law, A. P. Singh, who is a resident of Gwalior. The relatives and family members came after the police intimated them of the incident. Although the police have started investigation, what puzzles many is that belongings like the cellphone, wallet, wristwatch of the deceased had been left untouched. Hence, many surmised that the murder was not the cause of a freak incident when anti-social elements zero in on their targets by chance. The incident appears to be cold-blooded. The general impression is that the shots were fired at him from very close range. The circumstantial evidence suggests that someone may have also got into his car. The road where the body was found in a pool of blood generally remains deserted during night time. Relatives said Mr Chauhan was an amiable person and was a family man. |

Soon after gulping the drink, Bittu became unconscious. He was dumped near his house in a semi-conscious state. His family rushed him to Uttam Hospital near the police station. The police were informed soon after Bittu was admitted to the hospital. Even after 24 hours of the incident, the police had not registered the case. Emergency care at Fortis Hospital adjudged best
Noida, February 10 Fortis Hospital, Noida, Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, B M Hospital, Pune, and Sri Ram Chandra Medical College, Chennai, were shortlisted for the final round by the Academy of Traumatology on the basis of the emergency care they provide to the community. During the final round, judges and experts from the academy with assistance from the American Academy for Emergency Medicine (AAEM) and the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPIO) created simulated conditions and adjudged the teams on the basis of their instant reaction, time management and other skills in the effective management of emergency situations. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mir Asif Ali, Head, Emergency Medicine, Fortis Hospital, Noida, said the Fortis team was working extremely hard to make that possible. Though the ultimate satisfaction was to save the patient’s life, such awards were a welcome development to boost the morale of the emergency team. Mr Jasbir Grewal, Regional Director, Operations, Fortis Hospital, Noida, said, “Trauma is the third highest cause of mortality among Indian patients. Though unlike western countries emergency medicine is not considered a specialty in many Indian hospitals, at Fortis our endeavour is to give the best specialised treatment during emergency. And the award has rightly come to Fortis”. Prompt reaction plays a decisive role in saving a patient during emergency. The initial few minutes are very crucial. In India due to traffic congestion, it’s very difficult to bring the patients to the hospital well in time. Therefore, along with modern equipments like advanced life support system, the Fortis emergency team is very well-equipped and well-trained to take care of any emergency situation for better and effective patient care. Recently, with the involvement of Air Ambulance and an all-woman ambulance team an 80-year-old patient was brought to Delhi from Hyderabad whose life was saved. |
Greedy groom spurned as bride weds another
Ghaziabad, February 10 The elders of the village got around scouting for a suitable youth. The marriage was solemnised with this youth on the same day and at the same muhurat time. The marriage took place in Shiv Puri Colony under the Vijay Nagar police station, Ghaziabad. According to information, the marriage of Rekha, daughter of physically challenged Hans Raj Sharma, was fixed for February 8 with Har Prakash, son of Ami Chand of Kani Garhi village under the Javer police station in Gautam Budh Nagar. Hans Raj said he had presented Rs 21,000 in cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 60,000, a TV, fridge, motorcycle and furniture on February 4 to the boy’s side during the engagement ceremony in Hari Prakash’s house in Javer. He said before the arrival of the marriage party the boy side had telephonically demanded Rs 50,000 in cash and a Maruti car in dowry. The bride’s family had refused to succumb to this pressure and sent certain elders of the village to the groom’s village to persuade them not to insist on this unjustified demand for additional dowry to which the groom’s family had not agreed. The bride’s side then scouted for a suitable youth and married off Rekha. Kanti Prasad of Sardharpur, currently living in Vijay Nagar, offered to marry his son Rajiv with Rekha without taking any dowry. This dowryless marriage has become the talk of the area. Both the families are happy at this development. The village elders say if dowryless marriages are accepted by people it will do a lot of good to society. |
Separate sector rates for flats on the cards
Ghaziabad, February 10 The proposed sector rates for the flats will be announced in the district within a day or two. The Sub-Registrar and Assistant Commissioner, Stamps, are giving final touches to the sector rates of the flats which will differ locality-wise. The Assistant Commissioner, Stamps, Mr Vijay Dev Sharma, said the sector rates would depend on the super area of the flats which is 20 per cent more than the covered area. On an average, the sector rates of flats will worked out by taking a rate of Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 per sq mt as the basis. The amount of proposed sector rates is being delayed because new sector rates are being determined. According to Mr Sharma, whatever sector rate is shown by the builder is accepted for the purpose of registry. This way the government was losing out on stamp revenue considerably. New sector rates will do away with this loss and ensure better stamp revenue to the government. |
