Cops question kin of Group Captain

The Chandigarh Police is groping in the dark in the triple murder case that rocked the city on Tuesday. The bodies of Gp Capt T.P. Singh (retired), his wife Shibani and sister Ajit Kaur were found in their Sector 34 residence. The stolen car belonging to the couple remained untraced on the fourth day of the detection of the crime.

Engg student kills self
Mohali, February 10
An engineering student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Phase II here last night. According to the police, Manipal Singh, who was doing his engineering course from a college at Bhaddal, was sleeping in a room along with his grandfather, but he shifted to another room for taking the extreme step late at night.

As many as 34 members of the United Cooperative Housing Building Society, Sector-68, Mohali, have urged the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, to order an inquiry into the affairs of the society to set its house in order.

Murdered NRI cremated
Mohali, February 10
The body of a person who was killed after being kidnapped in Dubai reached his house in Phase VII here today. The body of Randhir Singh, who belonged to Badali village, near here, was brought from the Amritsar airport and cremated today. Randhir Singh was brutally murdered for ransom. He had been living in Dubai for the past about 30 years.

Three vehicles stolen
Chandigarh, February 10
A car and two motor cycles were stolen from the city. Besides, the police has arrested a Burail resident on charges of gambling. Mr Rajesh Chopra of Sector 55 lodged a complaint that his Maruti car (CH-01-W-0927) was stolen from his residence on Wednesday night.

Fashion technology park for Mohali
Mohali, February 10
A fashion technology park to be constructed at a cost of Rs 250 crore is coming up in Sector 90 here. The park will be spread on 13.76 acres of land purchased on the Landran road for the state-of-the-art project. The area is being levelled for starting the construction activity which will be completed in less than two years. It will be the only park with dedicated BPO units for international fashion designers.

Statement of minor girl recorded
Chandigarh, February 10
The Judicial Magistrate (First Class), Mr R.K. Bhankar, today recorded the statement of a minor girl who was allegedly kidnapped and then walked up to the Sector 34 Police Station under mysterious circumstances. The statement was recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC by the JMIC on a request made by the police.

LPG godown sites allotted
Chandigarh, February 10
At least 22 sites for LPG godowns were today allotted through a draw of lots by the Chandigarh Administration. The sites are located in peripheral areas of the city. Since a consensus for allotment of sites could not be reached, the draw of lots was held, said a senior officer of the Chandigarh Administration.

Showroom nets 16.41 cr
Chandigarh, February 10
A three-bay(172-174) showroom in Sector 34 netted a revenue of Rs 16.41 crore to the Chandigarh Housing Board at an auction held here today. The property was priced at Rs 7 crores.
