Threat to move court against panchayat poll results
Bilaspur, December 10 Earlier, Assistant Returning Officer rejected the nomination of one candidate for the post of
panchayat president while remaining four withdrew their nomination paper. Thus this panchayat has won prize of Rs 10 lakh announced by the government for development works where people elected their panchayats unanimous. Meanwhile, a deputation led by BJP state spokesman Randhir Sharma yesterday met Bilaspur Sadar SDM Baldev Thakur and gave him a memorandum complaining against alleged “illegal action” of Assistant Returning Officer regarding Kallar panchayat election. They said that nomination of BJP-supported candidates for post of presidentship of panchayat were “wrongly rejected” while another nomination for the same post was also declared “withdrawn”. This was beyond rules as the same was withdrawn by the “proposer” and not by the candidate himself. The deputation demanded that election of this gram panchayat should be held again declaring this election as null and void, failing which they will be constrained to go to court of law. |

Sources in the HIMUDA said applications had been received from M/s Apoorva Builders Private Limited, New Delhi, M/s Cross Country Developers , New Delhi, M/S Shakun Infrastructure , Solan, M/S Bison Properties Private Limited Jalandhar, Himland East Private Limited Jharmajri, Omexe Consultants, New Delhi, Motiya Constructions, Chandigarh, F.B Forgings among others. The housing sector has emerged as a favourite among entrepreneurs which has pushed up the land prices to astronomical figures disclosed a real estate dealer. He added that many industrialists were now making a bargain by facilitating land to the new entrepreneurs. With the population of labourers employed in the area touching one lakh, the provision of adequate and hygienic housing has become the prime concern of the industrialists and the state government alike. The HIMUDA has therefore made it mandatory for every builder to invest at least 8 per cent of its investment in building houses for the workers having an annual income of below Rs 50,000, officials disclosed. The CEO of HIMUDA, Mr Y.R Sharma, said since there has been a sudden boom of investors the department is taking all precautions to ensure that only genuine entrepreneurs were granted the permission. While as many as 48 builders had applied for seeking registration with the HIMUDA as many as 17-18 have been cleared for it he added. |
