In connection with the murder of Sukhvinder Singh, 35-year-old Quark engineer who was shot dead on Sunday night, the police today procured the video footage of accused Himmat Singh, alias Brandy, while withdrawing Rs 20,000 twice from a UTI ATM in Amritsar on December 5 and 6.

Union Govt “clears’’ proposal to appoint ad hoc judges

The Chief Justice of India, Mr Justice Y.K. Sabharwal, today disclosed that the Union Government, including the Prime Minister, had given favourable response to the proposal for appointment of ad hoc Judges in the country to clear backlog of cases.

Major succumbs to injuries

Judicial academy stone laid

The foundation stone laying ceremony of the judicial academy at Sector 43, Chandigarh, was performed today. The Chief Justice of India (CJI), Mr Justice Y.K. Sabharwal laid the foundation stone in the presence of other dignitaries.

A few Ghazal maestros have elicited as much adulation from music lovers the world over as Ghulam Ali, the great ghazal king. The stardom came to the humble and God-fearing Ghulam Ali only after decades of extensive training and strenuous “riyaz”. Dr S.C. Sharma, Professor and Head, Department of Radiotherapy & Oncology, Regional Cancer Centre, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), has been awarded the prestigious Dr P.K. Haldar Memorial Oration of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India for the year 2005.

Inscol MD to attend health programme

UP-Karnataka tie drawn

This lecturer in physical education at Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh, has not only earned distinction in academics and won medals in various sports events at national, university, college and school levels, but has also written a book, “Development of Physical Education and Sports in India” recently.
