Bridge for pedestrians inaugurated

Parliamentary Secretary Surinder Dawar today laid the foundation stone of a pedestrian overbridge on the link road at Cheema Chowk, here, today. Estimated to cost Rs 19 lakh, the foot-bridge would help pedestrians cross the road that has a heavy traffic.

The Marxist Communist Party of India (MCPI) has said that after being named as a beneficiary in the oil-for-food scam, External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh has no locus standi to continue in the Union Cabinet and since he has refused to step down on his own, the PM should show him the door.

FCI staff seek recruitments

‘Black Divali’ for Nankana Sahib School teachers
Ludhiana, November 5
The teachers of Nankana Sahib Public School in a press note here said that they had to celebrate a black Divali as they were not paid their salaries before Divali. Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College and Nankana Sahib Public School are run by Nankana Sahib Education Trust controlled by the SGPC and while the teachers of engineering college got their pay cheques , the school teachers were not given their due.

The Punjab unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh seeking his intervention in a case of alleged harassment of a Machhiwara-based doctor by relatives of a patient, who died in a Ludhiana hospital.
