Tribune News Service

Karnal, October 9
In a bizarre incident, an aged woman Chameli Devi of Amupur village accused her two sons Babu Ram and Om Prakash that they had killed her husband Dharam Singh after transferring his property in their names after kidnapping him in August this year.

While the police booked Chameli Devi’s two sons, two grandsons and one more person for kidnapping her husband, no case of killing Dharam Singh was filed so far.

The police spokesman said that Section 302 of murder might be added in the FIR after thorough investigation of the case.

Aged Chameli Devi of Amupur village alleged in her complaint lodged with the Nissing Thana police that her two sons Babu Ram and Om Prakash along with her two grandsons Babu’s son Sunil, alias Dimple, Om’s son Rajinder, alias Bhim and one more person Banarsi had kidnapped her husband from Amupur village on August and forcibly took him to Kurukshetra.

The complainant said that one of her three sons Babu Ram was a government employee at Kurukshetra and was living along with his family there. They admitted her husband to a private hospital at Kurukshetra, Chameli Devi alleged, adding that she along with her daughters were not even allowed to see him when they had gone to the hospital.

Chameli Devi alleged that Babu Ram in connivance with his brother Om Prakash had killed their father on August 11 after forcibly getting his signatures on documents of transferring 11 acres land to their name.

Following which, they cremated him next day without a post-mortem examination.

Chameli Devi said that she and her husband had already given Babu Ram Rs. 12.5 lakh as his share after selling a piece of land of 2.5 acre after consulting with their third son Suresh.

An FIR under Section 365 of the IPC has been lodged at Nissing Thana against Babu Ram, Om Prakash, their sons Rajinder, Sunil and another person Banarsi on Chameli Devi’s complaint.

Deepender Hooda visits constituency to thank voters
Tribune News Service

Titoli (Rohtak), October 9
Just a week after his election to the Lok Sabha, Mr Deepender Hooda is back in his constituency to thank the voters. He held a late evening meeting at his ancestral village Sanghi yesterday. He followed this up with a whistle-stop tour of seven other villages today. Despite being dubbed a political greenhorn, he is already indicating that he wants to play the political game in his own style rather than stay ensconced under the larger than life shadow of his father Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Before beginning his tour he had a meeting with senior district officers to seek details of the ongoing development projects initiated by his father in the area before the campaign for the parliamentary byelection began. The bureaucracy had a taste of the things to come when he took them by surprise on many issues through his probing queries. This was followed by another meeting with his campaign managers and Congress workers who apprised him of the problems and requirements of the villages in his vast constituency.

This morning beginning his day at Sunderpur he was informed that the work on the village road had been stalled for many weeks. Mr Hooda was quick to react. He queried the officials concerned on his mobile phone and was assured that the road would be completed in two weeks. He informed the villagers in turn about it and asked the sarpanch to inform his about the progress on the project in 10 days so that if there were any likely delays he could sort out the issues.

At Titoli the villagers told him that the work on laying pipelines for water supply had been held up because the department concerned had not yet accorded its sanction. He went to a corner of the dais and spoke to the Chief Minister’s OSD, Mr M.S. Chopra, and requested him to contact the head of the department immediately and let him know when the sanction could be expected. The response came five minutes later – the pipes would be purchased within a week and delivered to the village.

It was the same story in rest of the six villages he toured today. In every village he begged to be excused from making a speech because he said he had come to thank them for electing him and to tell them it was time now that “you ask me and I deliver”. He promised that he would be available to his constituents all the time and that he would ensure that the Rohtak Lok Sabha constituency became an “example for the rest of the country in so far as development was concerned”.

Notably, he was accompanied only by the local Congress leaders and his party workers. Unlike the two sons of former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, he chose not to flaunt his political status by keeping the siren blaring escort and pilot vehicles out of his cavalcade.

Villagers demand withdrawal of notice
Shiv Sharma

Bhiwani, October 9
A group of residents of Bapora village has started efforts to prove that the land of Dabar dham (a place of worship) where Mahant Ramanand was residing for the last several years, belongs to mahant as it had been donated to him by the gram panchayat unanimously.

A delegation of the residents submitted a memorandum to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr Lajvir Singh, yesterday and said that a few persons were involved in tarnishing the image of the Dham by misleading the followers.

The villagers said that the then sarpanch Mitra Pal Singh had got passed a resolution in a meeting of the panchayat to construct a hut, a satsang bhawan and a large rest room for devotees on panchayat land in 1986. Panchayat had installed a tubewell in the ashram by passing a resolution. The electricity connection had also been allocated on the name of the ashram and it was being paid with the money donated by the devotees.

The memorandum said that Mahant Ramanand had opened his “maun vrat” on completion of 12 years in 1999 and a huge bhandara was also organised on this occasion. It said that people had faith in this pious dham and there was a 300 years old ‘panchveer temple’ on this land. It claimed that the land had not been encroached upon by the mahant and it was still the property of the panchayat.

The delegation demanded withdrawal of the notice to maintain the sanctity of this pious place.
