Gohana incident: INLD backs BJP leader
Jhajjar, September 4 While interacting with the mediapersons after addressing an election meeting in Beri town of the district late last evening, Mr Chautala said, “As per his information, the relatives of the BJP MP, Mr Kishan Singh Sangwan were not part of the mob which set the houses on fire as they were present in the Panchayat which was going on simultaneously.” He said the Hooda government has been holding the opposition parties responsible for the every tragic incident in the state. “Earlier, the INLD was accused of enacting the tragic Gurgaon episode a few days ago when the police brutally lathi-charged Honda workers. Now they are blaming the BJP for Gohana incident”, the INLD leader added. Turning heat on the state government, Mr Chautala alleged that the Congress could resort to such tactics just to divert the attention of the people from crisis in the state due to shortage of water and electricity. He said that it was a pity that none of the senior Congress leaders, including state ministers and MPs, had been supporting and the Chief Minister Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda on the issue. The MP alleged that while the people are reeling under various problems like rising crime, water and power crisis etc., the state government was busy in retrenching government officials in various departments. He informed that about 15 thousand government job holders had been rendered jobless during the part six months by the Hooda government. Earlier, addressing the gathering in support of Mr Balwan Suhag who is party nominee from Rohtak Lok Sabha seat, Mr Chautala urged the people to give a jolt to the government to awaken it up from deep slumber. He stated that the INLD supremo and former Chief Minister Mr Om Prakash Chautala, would not hit the campaign trial in the Rohtak Lok Sabha bypoll though would be attending the party rally scheduled to be held in Rohtak as chief guest on September 25 on the occasion of Tao Devi Lal’s birth anniversary. |

Violence makes many lives miserable
Gohana (Sonepat), September 4 The life of most of the victims of the colony has entirely changed after the incident of torching of their houses. However, the sufferings and miseries of several widows residing in the colony have particularly been increased manifold after the attack on the colony. A widow Luxmi lost most of her life savings. Not only everything she had owned was either burnt or looted, but all material she had collected for her daughter’s marriage was also reduced to ashes during the attack. Talking to The Tribune, a sobbing Luxmi said that she did not know how she would be able to recollect required material to marry her daughter. Luxmi’s case is not an isolated one. The condition of another widow Beermati is also not much different. Beermati’s house along with almost all material kept there was gutted in the attack on the colony, she said, adding, that it would not be so easy for her to bring her life back on the same track as it had already been very difficult for her to make her and her family members’ both ends meet even before the incident. Broken televisions, water-coolers, washing machines, refrigerators and other household items are still lying in the debris of some of the torched houses. Another resident of the colony Sandeep also lost everything he owned. His family was living a decent life before the attack on Wednesday, but it all came to an end after the incident. Everything they owned was either burnt or stolen. Meanwhile, Gohana SDM Ajit Balaji Joshi, heading the team looking after rehabilitation work, told The Tribune that temporary
electricity connections of at least one point had already been restored to each of the house on Friday night itself. At the same time, he said it would take some time for providing the resident of the colony regular power and water connections as electiricity wires and water pipes had been broken at several places in and around a number of houses of the colony. |
Balmiki sabha threatens conversions
Hisar, September 4 “It is disillusioning that pro-Hindu organisations such as the RSS, the VHP, the Shiv Sena and the Bajrang Dal, which have been using us to further their political and other vested interests, have not criticised the incident,” said Dr Dev Singh, director of the
samaj, while addressing a new conference here today. He said since there was scant regard for the members of their community in these bodies, they would convert to a new fold at a ceremony to be organised in Chandigarh on September 11. |

Chaos at railway stations
Sonepat, September 4 Between 20,000 and 30,000 commuters, including 7,000 women, commute daily between Sonepat and Delhi and have to undergo an Ordeal. The commuters are largely government servants, school teachers and businessmen. There is also a sprinkling of employees of the private firms and a large number of milk vendors. There are half a dozen suburban trains linking Delhi with Sonepat, Panipat and Kurukshetra. The trains are generally over-crowded but to make the things worse, the railway authorities cut down the number of coaches frequently, forcing the passenger to huddle themselves into any available space. Milk vendors also travel in the suburban trains and they hold monthly season tickets (MSTs). They occupy most of the space with their huge containers without booking in the coaches. The railway authorities and the Government Railway Police (GRP) have utterly failed in taking action against them as a result of which the passengers in general and women passengers in particular have been facing great hardships in boarding and alighting from the trains. As soon as a train arrives, passengers are seen frantically running from one coach to occupy a seat. Almost all suburban trains originating from Panipat, Kurukshetra and Delhi have been running behind schedule every day. |

Swaroop on a petition filed by Ms Kanishka Vaderaa, purchaser of one of the DLF plots in Gurgaon. In her petition, Ms Vaderaa has stated that a Division Bench of the High Court had sometime back dismissed the company’s plea challenging the Haryana Government’s order restraining it from charging extension fee for non-construction of building. Her counsel also informed the Bench that DLF moved the Supreme Court but no relief was granted. However, despite that, it allegedly continued charging the fee from residents. Extension fee was to be charged from buyers like the petitioner for non-construction of the building on the land bought by them. Hearing will now resume on September 12. |
