Life term for killing brother
Ludhiana, May 3
Mr Baldev Singh, Sessions Judge, has sentenced Pardeep Kumar (27) of Atam Nagar, Jagraon, to undergo life imprisonment for killing his elder brother, Pal Singh, alias Palli, in August, 1999. A fine of Rs 12,000 was also imposed on him.

BKU seeks relief for crop loss

The Bharti Kisan Union (BKU), expressing concern over extensive loss to crops due to the rain, lashing winds and hailstorm all over the state, has demanded a compensation of Rs 12,000 per hectare to the affected farmers.

CMCH doctors’ poster nominated for award

A poster on “Prostatic Intra-Epithelial Neoplasia” presented by four doctors of Christian Medical College and Hospital has been nominated for the Vijaywada Best Poster Award. Made by Dr Kim Mammen, Dr Mini Verghese, Dr Sunita Jacob and Dr Joseph K. Mathew it was presented at the annual conference of the Urological Society of India held in Kochi in January.
