Dowry case takes another twist

Confusion over water supply scheme for panchayats
Ludhiana, March 13
Confusion, allegedly fuelled by official apathy, is proving to be a major stumbling block in handing over the work of implementing the Rural Drinking Water Supply Scheme to Village Water Supply and Sanitation Committees (VWSC). These committees are yet to be elected in villages. A notification by the state government has asked the department concerned to hand over the charge of the scheme to the committees by April 1.

Potholes appear in newly repaired road

Potholes and ditches have appeared in the Khamano-Khanna road, which was repaired only four months ago. Peoples of many villages, including Bhambri, Farour, Thikriwal, Bhutta, Chari, Barwali Goslan, Manupur, Seh and Salodi, daily use this road on way to Khamano, Khanna and other towns.

Children of Home and Heaven Nursery School, Model Town, participated in drawing, poetry, athletic and fashion show competitions here today. In the drawing section, children painted the sun, moon and flowers.

Docs hail decision on transfers
Ludhiana, March 13
The Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) has welcomed the decision of the Punjab Government to cancel the transfer orders of 72 PCMS medical officers working at various medical colleges. The transfers of these medical officers have been cancelled for the second time in less than six months.

Gastroenteritis: ‘no need to panic’
Ludhiana, March 13
Though the district Health Department claims that only one or two cases of gastroenteritis have been reported from Punjab Mata Nagar in the last 24 hours, several area residents continue to complain from symptoms like vomiting, motions and pain in the abdomen.
