Satta rackets with crores riding on ODI smashed

The Delhi Police Crime Branch and the East district police have busted four satta rackets in the city and arrested 11 persons during the India-Pakistan one-day cricket match in Karachi.

Boy kills ‘alcoholic’ father
Ghaziabad, March 13
An ex-serviceman, Jagpal, was beaten to death by his son in village Raghunathpur under Mussori police station. The old man was an alcoholic and often rebuked by his son Manoj for his habit of drinking. In a scuffle with the son on Friday, Jagpal got injured and later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital in Hapur.

The Legal Cell of the Haryana BJP has appointed six prominent lawyers, namely Mr Nar Dev Sharma, Mr N. K. Sanghi, Mr O. P. Goel, Mr Sanjeev Pandit, Mr Lekh Raj Sharma and Mr Ravi Kiran Dahiya, on its panel for looking into complaints about the misuse of official machinery by the ruling Indian National Lok Dal and its candidates during the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The chairman of the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC), Major H.P.S. Ahluwalia, announced it today while inaugurating the three-day conference of International Spine and Spinal Injuries Conference.

Two dreaded criminals nabbed, country-made weapons seized
Ghaziabad, March 13
With the arrest of two criminals, the Modi Nagar police claimed to have solved a number of cases of loot and thefts. The two criminals, identified as Naresh and Tinqu from Tikra road jungle, were arrested by a police team led by the S.O. Dharmender Chauhan. The criminals were held while they were planning to loot in the area, the police said.

Stolen vehicles worth Rs 50 lakh recovered

With the arrest of two desperate auto thieves the Crime Branch claimed to have busted an inter-state gang and also recovered 17 vehicles worth more than Rs 50 lakh from Gujarat. The sleuths also claimed to have seized incriminating documents, forged rubber stamps and vehicle service books from their possession.
