Gastroenteritis: ‘no need to panic’
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, March 13
Though the district Health Department claims that only one or two cases of gastroenteritis have been reported from Punjab Mata Nagar in the last 24 hours, several area residents continue to complain from symptoms like vomiting, motions and pain in the abdomen.

Dr Ajit Singh Chawla, district epidemiologist said that there was no need to panic as the situation was under control. None of the area residents needed to be hospitalised, he said.

The department officials had taken five water samples from the area and the report is expected to come by Monday. “But the other water samples, which were tested here in city, are fit for human consumption”, said Dr Chawla. But if the private medical practitioners in the area are to be believed, more than two or three persons suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting were daily coming for medicine.
