VK car-jacking case nets gang of four

The South district police claim to have arrested four dreaded criminals after an encounter last evening on the Mathura Road. With their arrest, the police also claimed to have solved two cases of murder, one car-jacking case, one house robbery and three cases of motor vehicle thefts.

The Rail Lao Sangharsh Samiti, which called on Union Ministers and held a dharna at Jantar Mantar in the Capital yesterday, received positive response from them regarding their demands. The samiti said that the project for connecting Jhajjar with rail line has been okayed by the Railway Ministry, but is pending with the Planning Commission.

Lanka defeat India ‘A’ in Commonwealth tourney

An all-round display by Kanchan Gunawardane (40 and 3 for 20) enabled Sri Lanka defeat India ‘A’ by 26 runs in the Commonwealth Cricket Under-19 Championship at the Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon. India ‘A’ won the toss and decided to field. The match was reduced to 36 overs a side due to heavy fog.
