CONDEMNED: Mr Gurnder Singh Sodhi, convenor of the Coordination Committee Para-medical and Health Employees, condemned the alleged illegal transfers of para-medical employees by Dr Davinderpal Singh Sandhu, Director, Health and Family Welfare, here. In a press note here on Monday.

LIBRARIAN AWARD: The Satinder Kaur Ramdev Memorial Trust for Advancement of Librarian (SATKAL) will honour Dr T.A.V. Murthy, Director, INFLIBNET/UGC, with the Punjab National Librarian Award at its annual function to be held on December 16 at Guru Nanak Dev University.

GANG BUSTED: With the arrest of Raaje Ram, Kanshi Ram, Suresh Kumar and Sanjay Kumar, all from Dhanoe village of Hisar district, a gang of burglars has been busted. This was disclosed here on Tuesday by Dr Narinder Bhargav, SSP.

RALLY HELD: workers of the All-India FCI Workers Association covering Faridkot, Moga and Muktsar districts, held a rally on the premises of the District Food Corporation of India office here on Tuesday. They were protesting against the adamant attitude of the district management to properly implement the direct pay system. The protesters charged the management for delaying the clearing of their wages, overtime allowance and bonus.

BLAST VICTIMS: A sum of Rs 19,87,500 was distributed among 18 victims of mine blasts at Army headquarters here on Tuesday. Col Sudhaka G., Major Sanjay Dahia, Major Arjun Singh and Bhupinder Singh Saharan, SDM, Fazilka, distributed the compensation amount. The victims included Dalwinder Singh, Sumitra Bai, Gurdeep Singh, jaswant Singh, Nanak Singh, Meeto Bai, Surjit Kaur, Darshan Singh, Ranjha Singh, Resham Singh, Sohan Singh, Iqbal Singh, Jagir Singh and Mangal Nath.

GANG BUSTED: The district police claims to have busted a three-member gang of thieves and recovered 80 kg of stolen electric aluminium wire from their possession. The arrested persons were later identified as Makhan Singh, Ram Abhilash and Suresh Kumar. A case has been registered.

DENTAL CAMP: A dental check-up camp organised under the intensive dental health care programme of the Punjab Health Department at the local Civil Hospital concluded here on Sunday.

SAMRITI DIVAS: The local Ralla Mal Bhucher DAV Public School organised Ralla Mal Bhucher Samriti Divas on the school premises here on Sunday to pay homage to the great soul in whose memory land was donated for setting up the school. A blood grouping camp was organised.

ARRESTED: The police has arrested three youths for stealing a motor-cycle from Civil Lines on December 8. The arrested persons are Joginder Kumar, alias Jhonny, Sunil Kumar and Dwala.

TEACHER FOUND DEAD: Sham Lal, a retired JBT teacher of nearby Anhech village, was found dead on the Dagshai road on Wednesday morning. He might have died on Tuesday night following heart attack.

BEST REPORT: A paper submitted by Meena Kumari of Senior Secondary School, Makreeri, Jogindernagar subdivision, has been adjudged as the best report from rural areas of the state at the Bal Vigyan Sammelan held at Chamba recently. In her elaborate write-up Meena has dealt with preservation of foodgrains with the help of local herbs. She has been selected for participating in the national Bal Vigyan Sammelan to be held in Lucknow from December 27 to 31.

CAMP FOR HANDICAPPED: The Kangra District Red Cross Society organised a free handicapped medical board camp at the subdivisional Civil Hospital here on Tuesday. The board examined 95 persons and issued disability certificates to 75 persons.
