Delhi tops in crimes against
women
New Delhi, December 3
More numbers of cases of eve
teasing and rape were registered in NCT of Delhi between March 1, 2003
and August 31, 2003 than all the other three metropolises put
together.
The President, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, presents the Best Employer National Award for the Welfare of Persons with Disability to the National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd.

Sarv Jaatiya Panchayat
chief in poll mode
Panipat, December 3
In a bid to grab the Panipat seat
from the sitting Congress MLA, the supremo of the Sarv Jaatiya
Panchayat, Mr Om Prakash Jain, who won by a margin of more than 20,000
votes in the 1996 assembly polls, has started his campaign for the
ensuing assembly elections in Haryana which are due next year. Mr Jain
was a minister in the Bansi Lal and Om Prakash Chautala governments.
Kisan
mahapanchayat to be held at Rohtak on Dec 16
Sonepat, December 3
In order to formulate strategies
for highlighting the problems of the farming community and securing
the release of the detained kisan union leaders a joint kisan
mahapanchayat of more than two dozen organisations will be organised
at Rohtak on December 16.
Court
action threatened over supply of contaminated water
Sonepat, December 3
Widespread resentment prevails
among the residents of Mohalla Kalan and its adjoining areas against
the supply of contaminated drinking water and the failure of the
Public Health Department authorities to repair the saluice valve,
which was leaking profusely for the past eight months in the area.
According to a report, the tap water was contaminated and gave foul
smell.

Students to spread
message on hepatitis prevention

The Health and Family Welfare
Department have decided to involve school students to check the spread
of hepatitis and disseminate information about modes of transmission
and methods to prevent the disease.

The Trade Tax Department has
detected a central sales tax evasion of Rs 4 crore on a sale of Rs 40
crore worth of goods. This racket was busted in a raid on a firm in
Sector-59, Noida, by the special branch.
