‘Harassed’ by police, man attempts suicide in court

CHB to cut rate of interest on instalments
30,000 flat owners to benefit
Chandigarh, November 4
At least 30,000 families of the city, who own flats allotted by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) can heave a sigh of relief. The interest rate on instalments payable to the CHB will come down, thus substantially reducing their financial burden.

Cong, BJP urged to clear stand on property tax
Chandigarh, November 4
Councillors of the Chandigarh Vikas Manch today demanded that the Congress and the BJP should clear their stand on the issue of property tax. In a joint statement issued by Mrs Harpreet Babla, Mr Vijay Singh Rana, Mr Jatinder Bhatia and Mr Devinder Singh Babla, it had been demanded that cutting across the party lines, the BJP and Congress should oppose the tax.

Inspectors to be held accountable for encroachments

The Enforcement Committee of the Municipal Corporation today passed a resolution to make Inspectors of the enforcement wing accountable for encroachments in their respective areas. The committee recommended to senior officials of the corporation to regularly inspect the areas of the inspectors.

Dharna by non-teaching staff enters 7th day

Film on Khalsa Panth screened

SBOP beat Central Bank by 79 runs

Hosts State Bank of Patiala registered a fine win over the Central Bank of India by 79 runs in the Banks’ Olympiad Cricket Tournament played here today. The SBOP scored 267 runs for the loss of four wickets in 45 overs. Rajiv Sarhadi made 102 runs, while Rakesh Saini scored unbeaten 101 runs.

J&K trail by 113 runs
Chandigarh, November 4
Jammu and Kashmir were 184 runs for the loss of five wickets at the end of the second day’s play in the North Zone Cooch Behar (under19) Cricket Tournament being played at the J.R. Institute of Cricket Technology, Barwala, near here. This was in response to Haryana’s first innings total of 297 runs. J&K were still 113 runs behind.
