Court orders probe into fake summons case New Delhi, August 1 Ordering a thorough probe and investigation, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM), Mr K. S. Pal, directed the Subzi Mandi SHO to submit a report by September 29.The matter was brought to the notice of the CMM by Metropolitan Magistrate Swaran Kanta Mehra in whose name businessman Behram S. Doctor was summoned. Ms Mehra came to know of the forgery after the Mumbai Commissioner of Police sent her a letter attaching copies of the orders of a city sessions court and the Bombay High Court granting interim bail to Behram S. Doctor along with the copy of the summons allegedly issued by her. The summons were issued in connection with a case – Messers Compact Steel Vs Real Engineers Ltd (Mumbai) - under Section 138 (bouncing of cheque) of the Negotiable Instruments Act. It had sought Behram S. Doctor’s attendance to answer to the charges against him. The summons bore Ms Mehra’s signature as Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) and was dated April 1 under a forged court seal. Ms Mehra said she had never been posted as ACMM and though the case was being heard in her court initially, the file was transferred to Additional Sessions Judge Kanwal Inder on July 16 last year. |
