The VHP today rejected Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s appeal not to go ahead with its controversial yatra and said it was planning to carry the model of the S-6 coach in its march from Godhra on Sunday.

Vajpayee: don’t make Godhra poll issue

Concerned about the VHP’s determination to go ahead with its yatra in Gujarat in flagrant violation of the ban imposed by the Election Commission, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee intervened strongly today, asking all organisations to honour the directive of the constitutional body.

By disengaging 165 Special Police Officers from services, the PDP-led coalition government has taken the lid off a multi-crore scam in Jammu and Kashmir. During the past over six years, several crores used to be distributed from the police force and the Chief Minister’s secretariat as remuneration to the SPOs who never existed.

Charges framed against Hindujas, Bofors
New Delhi, November 15
The three Hinduja brothers —Srichand, Gopichand and Prakashchand — and Swedish arms manufacturer A.B. Bofors today pleaded “not guilty” even as a Delhi court today framed charges of criminal conspiracy, corruption and cheating against them. The trial will commence on December 4.

Responding to the call of the panchayat held at Suhra village yesterday, three roads leading to the district headquarters were blocked by the villagers till about 5 p.m. today. According to reports, the Gurgaon road was blocked in Dadri where about 400 persons from nearby villages had gathered.
