Our Correspondent

Ghaziabad, October 10
The Divisional Commissioner, Meerut, Mr N. S. Ravi, has instructed all District Magistrates to speed up allotment of agricultural land and residential plots to all members of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes. They should be handed over the allotment letters within a month, his written instruction says.

The District Magistrates have been asked to get a survey done regarding the available land, which could be used for agriculture and residential purposes in the revenue villages of all tehsils.

“Tehsildars will be personally present at the meetings of the land management committees and the participants would allot the land within 30 days,” the order says. The land reclamation is the top priority with the government and new direction will be issued in June next year. Meanwhile, the progress of the campaign is slow in Meerut division and the government has viewed this seriously.

The Chief secretary has already expressed dissatisfaction at a meeting in Barielly recently.

In Ghaziabad district, there are 27.613 hectares and in Baghpat, 514.253 hectares that could be allotted to members of SCs and OBCs, it is learnt.
