Vasant Vihar to meet Dwarka New Delhi, October 10 In the other semi-finals, DPS, Mathura Road beat DPS, Noida by 29 runs while DPS, R K Puram defeated Vasant Kunj by three wickets. Mathura Road made 224 all out in 29.5 overs while Noida folded up for 195. Vasant Kunj were all out for 107 while R K Puram replied with 108 for the loss of seven wickets. In the tiny-tots tournament, Dwarka defeated Vasant Kunj and East of Kailash, East of Kailash defeated Rohini and Vasant Vihar defeated DPS International in the earlier matches. Former Test cricketer Madan Lal had declared the tournament open on September 27. Six schools participated in the inter-DPS tournament. They were DPS, Mathura Road, R K Puram, Noida, Vasant Kunj, Faridabd and Rohini. Mathura Roa outplayed Vasant Kunj by 30 runs in Pool A. Hitanshu Bhardwaj’s brilliant knock of 87 was the highlight of the match. R K Puram beat Rohini by 151 runs. Dewakar and Parag scored centuries for R K Puram. Vasant Kunj trounced Faridabad by 112 runs. Mathura Road then knocked out Faridabad with a crushing 88 runs victory. R K Puram beat Noida by four wickets while Noida defeated Rohini by a huge margin of 145 runs. |
Ganga, Sahodaya to clash in final New Delhi, October 10 Earlier, Ganga School got the better of Jaspal Kaur Public School 2-1 to enter the semi-final. K C Lalremheata scored both the goals for Ganga school off passes from Gourav Negi. In another match on Wednesday, Laxman Public School beat Shiksha Bharti Public School 2-0. Philip scored both the goals. Sahodaya Public School beat CSKM Public School 3-0. Sandeep, Anil and Ming were the marksmen. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Rohini beat St. Marks Public School 3-0. Ashish, Vinod and Rahman were the goal-scorers. All the winners sailed into the semi-finals. |
Gaurav Ghei leads in Grand Prix Golf New Delhi, October 10 Birdies on the first and third saw him make the turn at two-under and three more birdies on the 12th, 14th and 18th resulted in a bogey-free round. The tournament carries a cash prize of Rs 8 lakh. Arjun Singh carded a level-par 72 and was placed second, going into the final round, two strokes ahead of local player Ashok Kumar, who is at the third place. Carding consistent pars on the first four holes, Arjun had just one bogey on the par-three fifth and a solitary birdie on the par-five 14th hole. Amritinder Singh and Jumman were a further stroke behind, at five-under 211. Jumman carded an even par 72, while Amritinder shot a 71, to remain at fourth place heading into the final round. Chandigarh’s Ranjit Singh, who carded a bogey-free five-under 67, moved up to four-under for the championship. Three strokes behind Ranjit Singh are Yusuf Ali, Vinod Kumar and SSP Chowrasia. Yusuf carded a five-under 67 while Chowrasia shot 70 and Vinod Kumar had a dismal 75. |

He has adjusted quickly to English conditions and has performed well for the club”. Ajit (2), Dalip (2), Dorji and Bhupender Rawat were Garhwal Diamond's marksmen. Anil, Chanda (2) and Dinesh struck the goals for Cosmos. New Friends Club trounced Columba's Club 9-0. Ram Singh (3), Prasant Banerjee (2), Sachin Malhotra (2) and Rakesh Kumar (2) were the marksmen. Rohini and Timarpur got walkovers from Lodhi Club and Gulabi Bagh respectively. |

MEERUT DIVISION Ghaziabad, October 10 The District Magistrates have been asked to get a survey done regarding the available land, which could be used for agriculture and residential purposes in the revenue villages of all tehsils. “Tehsildars will be personally present at the meetings of the land management committees and the participants would allot the land within 30 days,” the order says. The land reclamation is the top priority with the government and new direction will be issued in June next year. Meanwhile, the progress of the campaign is slow in Meerut division and the government has viewed this seriously. The Chief secretary has already expressed dissatisfaction at a meeting in Barielly recently. Gautam Budh Nagar district tops with 2096.200 hectares, which are reserved for allotment, while 21.083 hectares have been shown as unproductive in Meerut district. In Ghaziabad district, there are 27.613 hectares and in Baghpat, 514.253 hectares that could be allotted to members of SCs and OBCs, it is learnt. |
