Another ‘Noida’ in the offing

The Bhiwadi Industrial Area (BIDA) of Rajasthan will be developed into an “ideal” township on the pattern of Noida. As many as 99 villages around Bhiwadi have been included in the area, to be called BIDA.

The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala, has asserted that the inspiration behind his government’s basic policies and programmes is its fountain-head, the late Devi Lal, who, he said, had dedicated his entire life to the service of the state and the nation after seeking inspiration from the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and "Deen Bandhu" Sir Chhotu Ram.

With the arrest of one travel agent, the Delhi Police Special Cell today claimed to have busted a racket of obtaining visas from different embassies by submitting forged documents. The other accused is absconding.

72 students get Udayan Shalini Fellowship
New Delhi, September 23
The first Udayan Shalini Fellowship Award Function was held here. The Lt-Governor, Mr Vijai Kapoor, was the chief guest. He administered the Pledge to the Fellows and later presented them with their cheques. Sixty-one secondary school students from 42 different schools and 11 college girls from 10 colleges received their awards. The Governor remarked that this was the first time that he had come across a Fellowship Programme which went beyond giving money and included actual upbringing and mentoring of the selected Fellows.
