CHANDIGARH, June 17 — The Haryana Government has transferred 35 HCS officers with immediate effect.

HUDA to allot plots through lottery
CHANDIGARH, June 17 — Indicating a major shift in its policy for selling of plots, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will now allot plots through the lottery system. Earlier, HUDA plots were sold through auctions, which was scrapped by the INLD regime saying that the auction system was causing losses to HUDA apart from consuming too much time for the disposal of the plots.

MC employees to launch stir
SONEPAT, June 17 — Members of the Nagarpalika Karamchari Sangh, Haryana have decided to launch a statewide agitation against the failure of the state government to accept demands of the civic employees in the state.

Insurance Co told to pay claim
KAITHAL, June 17 — The district consumer Redressal Forum here, headed by Mr H. K. Moudgil, has directed New India Insurance Company Ltd, to pay the amount of loss as assessed by the surveyor, to the complainant along with 12 per cent interest and the Rs 2000 as costs.

Powermen protest against transfers
SONEPAT, June 17 — The Haryana Rajya Bijli Karamchari Sangh today protested against the transfers of two sangh leaders, namely Mr Dayanand Bagri and Mr Ram Dhari, by the Executive Engineer of suburban division of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, and demanded the immediate cancellation of these transfers.

ROHTAK, June 17 — The police today arrested two youths and claimed to solving two cases of murder.

SP seeks public support to combat crime
FATEHABAD, June 17 — The Superintendent of Police, Mr Shrikant Jadhav has sought public support to combat crime, particularly trafficking of poopy husk and other psychotropic substances in the district.

Setia, awaiting orders of posting, has been posted as Subdivisional Officer (Civil), Loharu, vice Mr Ashok Kumar Bishnoi; Mr Naresh Kumar, City Magistrate, Bhiwani, has been posted as SDO (C), Hansi, vice Mr Maheshwar Sharma who goes as SDO (C), Naraingarh, vice Mr Satbir Singh Saini who has been posted as SDO (C), Ambala, vice Ms Renu S. Phulia who becomes SDO (Civil)-cum-Additional Collector, Panchkula, relieving Mr N.K. Singla. Mr Rakesh Kumar Yadav, City Magistrate, Fatehabad, is posted as SDO (C), Hathin, against a vacant post. 

Mr Inder Singh, awaiting orders of posting, has been posted as Managing Director, Cooperative Sugar Mills, Bhuna, relieving Mr R.K. Chauhan. HUDA to allot plots through lottery

CHANDIGARH, June 17 — Indicating a major shift in its policy for selling of plots, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will now allot plots through the lottery system. Earlier, HUDA plots were sold through auctions, which was scrapped by the INLD regime saying that the auction system was causing losses to HUDA apart from consuming too much time for the disposal of the plots.

An official press note issued here today said free hold residential plots at Gurgaon, Panchkula, Faridabad, Dharuhera, Sirsa and Pehowa would be allotted to buyers through the draw of lots. Those applying for these plots would have to pay 10 per cent earnest money along with the applications, 15 per cent within one month of allotment and the balance in six equal yearly installments. These plots would be part of well planned urban estates of HUDA with quality infrastructure and public utility services.

The press note said the booking for the general and other categories for the plots would commence on June 22 and close on July 21, 2000. For defence personnel, ex-servicemen, para-military forces personnel and NRIs, the booking period would be up to August 21, 2000.

The press note said the estate officers concerned of HUDA, and the authorised branches of the Oriental Bank of Commerce, the State Bank of India and Central Cooperative Bank would issue the application forms and they would also receive the completed forms. Details about the plots could also be obtained in the HUDA website, www.HUDAonline.com.

There are 1,624 plots of various sizes in different sectors of Gurgaon. There are 92 plots in Panchkula, 222 plots in Faridabad, 332 plots in Dharuhera, 248 plots in Sirsa Mandi township and 37 plots in Pehowa Mandi township.

MC employees to launch stir

SONEPAT, June 17 — Members of the Nagarpalika Karamchari Sangh, Haryana have decided to launch a statewide agitation against the failure of the state government to accept demands of the civic employees in the state.

This was announced by Mr Poonam Chand Rati and Mr Rattan Lal Rohilla, president and general secretary, respectively of the state unit of the sangh, while addressing the civic employees here last evening.

They charged the Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala with backing out of his earlier announcement regarding the payment of salary through treasury to the civic employees. This has resulted in resentment among the civic employees. They also alleged that the civic bodies had failed to deposit Rs 20 crore in the GPF of the employees despite the amount has been deducted from their salary. 

Moreover, it had failed to withdraw the criminal and ESMA cases against those civic employees who had participated in 79-day strike during 1996-97. They urged the state government to order immediate withdrawal of criminal and ESMA cases instituted against the civic employees and demanded the state government should absorb all civic employees in other departments who were earlier working in 29 civic bodies of the state. The leaders announced a day-long state-level convention of civic women employees on July 16 at Rohtak.

Insurance Co told to pay claim

KAITHAL, June 17 — The district consumer Redressal Forum here, headed by Mr H. K. Moudgil, has directed New India Insurance Company Ltd, to pay the amount of loss as assessed by the surveyor, to the complainant along with 12 per cent interest and the Rs 2000 as costs.

These orders were passed following a complaint filed before the consumer forum by Kimti Lal of Bakal Village alleging that the respondent the insurance company has failed to settle his claim case of Rs 1.50 lakh on account of damage to his Tata 407 tempo in a road accident, which was insured with the company.

On the other hand the insurance company has claimed that the complaint was time-barred. Moreover the driver of the vehicle which was damaged in the accident, was not possessing valid driving license, needed for driving a heavy vehicle.

In another case the forum directed the local branch of Oriental Insurance Company to pay Rs 27000, the value of stolen Rajdoot motor cycle, which was insured with the company by the complainant.

The company had earlier refused to make the payment on the ground, that he had failed to furnish an untraceable report from the police.

SONEPAT, June 17 — The Haryana Rajya Bijli Karamchari Sangh today protested against the transfers of two sangh leaders, namely Mr Dayanand Bagri and Mr Ram Dhari, by the Executive Engineer of suburban division of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, and demanded the immediate cancellation of these transfers.

This demand is contained in a resolution adopted by the state executive committee of the sangh held here.

The committee resolved to launch an agitation against the nigam authorities if the victimisation of these leaders was not put to end. It also decided to hold massive demonstrations, organise rallies and gherao of the Xen and other officials of the nigam.

Earlier, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Mr Balbir Singh Rohilla, chief organiser of the sangh.

Two youths held for murders

ROHTAK, June 17 — The police today arrested two youths and claimed to solving two cases of murder.

According to police sources, truck driver Sukhdev Singh alias Sukha was murdered by a local resident Karan Singh on the Hisar road here on September 7 last year. The suspect had been absconding since then. He confessed having robbed a jeep in Jind district also.

In another case, the police arrested a youth on the charge of murdering his mother-in-law. Krishna wife of Satbir had been missing since May 20 last. The police arrested her son-in-law Rajender of Madana village who confessed having committed the crime. He led the police party to the place near Bohar Railway station where he had buried the body. The accused said he was married to Meena in 1991 but was forced to get divorce due to her mother-in-law which led him to commit the crime.

In another case the police arrested six persons including the kingpin of liquor smugglers’ gang. Those arrested are Kamle (kingpin) of Karontha village, Jasbir, Anil, Raja, Satyawan and Rambir. A case under Sections 148, 149, 323, 324, 186, 506, 224, and 307 of the IPC and under the Arms Act was registered against the accused for manhandling Excise officials on May 30 last.

In another case the police arrested Rajesh of Matan village on the charge of abducting Aman Kumar alias Bablu of Kharawar village on May 10. The abductor had demanded Rs 15 lakh ransom. Naresh and Satbir of Matan village, Krishan of Kharawar and Sonu, driver of Maruti van used in the crime are absconding.

SP seeks public support to combat crime

FATEHABAD, June 17 — The Superintendent of Police, Mr Shrikant Jadhav has sought public support to combat crime, particularly trafficking of poopy husk and other psychotropic substances in the district. He was speaking at a gathering at Sobh Raj Batra Dharamshala here yesterday Mr Satya Paul Bansal, President of the Municipal Committee, Dr Vinod Batra, Seth Ram Niwas, Mrs Usha Dahiya, MC, Mr C.P. Ahuja, Prof H. Thakkar, Prof K.K. Arora and Mr Brij Bhushan Midha were present.

Mr Jadhav said that though the district was relatively crime-free, yet the trafficking of poppy husk and other psychotropic substances in the district, particularly in the Rattia area was a matter of concern. He said that though the police was active against the menace but people’s support was essential. He also exhorted the local residents to co-operate with the police in traffic regulation. Mr Jadhav further asked the people to constitute peace committees in different wards of the town which could help the police in maintenance of law and order in the town.

Three held for fraud

FARIDABAD, June 17 — The police today arrested three persons, including a woman, who allegedly withdrew fraudulently Rs 3.50 lakh from the bank account of an industrial house. They are — Deepak Aneja, Sigari Devi and Roop Singh.

It is stated that Deepak who, earlier was working with the company submitted an application to the bank on the stolen pad of the company to prepare a draft of Rs 3.50 lakh.

The draft later was encashed after opening an account in the bank and the money shared by the three. Two others also involved in the fraud are yet to be arrested.
