Wildlife staff to get firearms
Chandigarh, Sept 7 — The UT Wildlife Department has decided to issue firearms to forest guards and other officials to ensure effective protection of wildlife in reserved area around the city.

PUDA notices for violating bylaws

CHANDIGARH, Sept 7 — "Vulgarity in Hindi songs today shows that film-makers take the audience to be buffoons and even a little retarded. Chandigarh, Sept 7 — The UT Inspector-General of Police here today suspended a sub-inspector posted in the economic offences wing for grave misconduct and dereliction of duty.

Shivalik Trophy for Shivalik boys
Chandigarh, Sept 7 — Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, bagged Shivalik Trophy for boys under the age of 14, in soccer. The final of the tournament was played here at Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 23 today. In the final, SPS-41 team defeated St Soldier's School, Sector 28, 4-1, in a tie-breaker. Both teams remained goaless in the stipulated period.

Green belt to become public park
SAS NAGAR, Sept 7 — There is good news for residents of the sectors around the industrial area falling in Sector 58 here as the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) plans to convert the green belt in the area into a public park.
