Ceremony:
The Army's Panther Division will organise a ceremony at the Abdul Hamid Memorial near Assal Uttar on September 9 in memory of the late Param Vir Chakra awardee. A medical camp will also be organised on the occasion.
Musical night: Sangeetkar Madan Mohan Yadgaar Sabha here, will hold its fifth annual musical nite on September 11 at Lion Bhavan, Lajpat Nagar.

HOSHIARPUR
Bar association:
Members of the local Bar Association observed a strike on Tuesday in support of the demands of the District Bar Association, Ludhiana. The association also demanded the construction of a new judicial complex at Hoshiarpur.

PATIALA
Blood donation:
Under the National Service Scheme, volunteers of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology organised a blood donation camp on Monday in which fiftyfive students donated blood. The camp was inaugurated by Dr V.K. Sood, Dean, Research and Development.

Tree plantation: Staff members of the State Bank of India, PGI branch, along with employees and students of DAV college organised a tree plantation drive on the DAV college premises in sector 10. About 200 saplings were planted.

Function put off:
The Ex-Servicemen cell of the Patiala district Bharatiya Janata Party has postponed its function to offer floral tributes to the martyrs of Kargil till further notice. The function was scheduled to be held on September 12.

FATEHABAD
Debate:
The local DAV Centenary School organised a debate on Monday to mark Teachers' Day. The subject was: "How to make teaching interesting and develop creativity in students." Several teachers participated in the debate.
Strike: The strike by the local lawyers continued for the 49th day on Tuesday. The lawyers are demanding setting up of district courts here. Mr Justice S.D.Anand of the Punjab and Haryana High Court came here on a surprise visit to inspect the court premises under construction.

SIRSA
Potable water:
Students of Government National Postgraduate College here are facing shortage of drinking water. They alleged that water tanks in the college had not been cleaned for a long time forcing them to go out of the college premises to drink water.
Office-bearers: The following have been elected office-bearers of the local OBC Railway Employees' Sangh: President-Mr Luxmi Narayan; Vice-President-Mr Sumer Singh; and General Secretary-Mr Chand Ram.

SONEPAT
2 killed:
Two persons were killed and 23 others injured, 19 of them seriously, in separate accidents reported from various parts of the district on Monday. The police has registered cases.

BILASPUR
Condemned:
The local unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) here has condemned the action of the state Organising Secretary, Mr Mahender Dharmani, of removing the state ABVP leader and district parishad chief, Mr Subhash Sharma, from his post. He added that an agitation would be launched in this regard.
Murder: Leela Dutt (43) a teastall owner at Sunhani, near Barthin, was found murdered on Sunday. His throat was slit with a sharpedged weapon. He had reportedly gone to throw garbage in the culvert but did not return.
