At a press conference here, he stated that he had absolutely no intention of shifting his loyalties to the neighbouring Lok Sabha seat of Amritsar. “I will contest from Gurdaspur. Some of my detractors in the party are floating rumours that I may be shifted to Amritsar. During my three terms as MP, I have worked hard for the people of this border district. Several new bridges over the Ravi and Beas rivers came up during my tenure. It was due to my efforts that Gurdaspur was connected with mainline Punjab through the bridge built on the Beas river near Mukerian,” he said. — TNS
