Re-poll for 2 panchayat wards on July 12

Panchayat polls will be held for Ward No 4 and 6 of Sloh village on July 12. The polling for both these wards was suspended on July 3 on technical grounds. Resham Kaur, a contestant for the post of panch, had not clearly mentioned in her nomination papers the ward number from which she wanted to contest.

Woman succumbs to injuries

Kamaljit Kaur of Dhak Pandori village, who got injured on Saturday when three motorcycle-borne youths snatched her gold earrings when she was riding pillion on bike with her husband, succumbed to her injuries in a Jalandhar hospital on Monday.

Re-poll for 2 panchayat wards on July 12

Panchayat polls will be held for Ward No 4 and 6 of Sloh village on July 12. The polling for both these wards was suspended on July 3 on technical grounds. Resham Kaur, a contestant for the post of panch, had not clearly mentioned in her nomination papers the ward number from which she wanted to contest.

Since she was a resident of Ward No 4, she was considered a candidate for Ward No 4 by the Returning Officer concerned.

But on the polling day, she raised objection that she had been wrongly made candidate from Ward No 4. She had campaigned from Ward No 6 and wanted to contest from there.

It was decided to cancel the polling for both the wards.
