Research backbone of a university, says VC

He emphasised that a research scholar must devote maximum time in studies to gain self knowledge. “A research scholar should read at least two books every month to increase his knowledge,” he added. Delhi cops keep Gurgaon police in the dark over IPL betting probe
Gurgaon, May 30 While the Goa police plans to book the villa owner for allowing criminal activity on his premises, the Gurgaon police is yet to be contacted in this regard. “I don’t know whose property was it. So far, we have not got any communication from any other state police with regard to IPL betting. If they contact us, we will do our best to help investigations but till then we cannot say anything,” said Commissioner Alok Mittal. It is not the first time that Gurgaon has surfaced in spot fixing scandal which came to light after India pacer S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila (all Rajasthan Royals players) were arrested by the Delhi police. It was in the city’s Sahara Mall where Chandila had reportedly met a key bookie and alleged D company representative. The revelation had many worried about the city being headed to be an easy choice of the underworld. While the Delhi police went ahead with seizing the CCTV footage from the Gurgaon mall, the city police was surprisingly not informed about it. Similarly the Delhi police’s Badrish Dutt who was one of the key investigators in an IPL betting case was found dead in a flat here along with his live-in partner. While some sections of the Delhi police voiced suspicions over his mysterious death relating it to the IPL betting scandal as he was to be part of raid planned next day, nothing was officially communicated to the Gurgaon police, which is yet to establish the motive of the ‘murder’. “With the real estate boom, easy flow of money and flawed security at majority of the posh malls, make the city an easy choice for such activities. The city’s link to betting scandals that has emerged time and again hints at a big nexus but a lead in this regard can only be obtained from the ongoing investigation. Sadly, none of the investigators has thought the need of sharing any information with us,” said a senior police official.
