Bansal faces heat over ‘railgate’

The Congress today stood firmly behind Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, who denied any wrongdoing and business links with his nephew Vijay Singla arrested by the CBI yesterday for allegedly fixing top-level appointments in the Railway Board.

4-day CBI remand for Singla, three others
New Delhi/Chandigarh, May 4
A Special Court today remanded Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal’s nephew Vijay Singla along with three others in four-day CBI custody. The probe agency has so far arrested six persons, including Railway Board member Mahesh Kumar, in the graft case.

In PGI, Pak prisoner remains critical 
Chandigarh, May 4
The condition of Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Khan, who was injured in a scuffle with another inmate in Jammu jail, remained critical today. Doctors treating Sanaullah at the PGI said he was currently on ventilator and had not shown any sign of improvement. A hospital source, however, said the patient is ‘brain dead’

Army officer graft case: CBI may conduct more raids

A day after the CBI conducted raids on the premises of a senior Army officer of Northern Command in Udhampur, Pathankot, Delhi and Gurgaon, the premier investigation agency today said a similar exercise may be conducted again to get to the bottom of a graft case involving supply of rations.
