Phoolka honoured with ‘Saropa’
New Delhi, May 4 At a protest meeting of BJP workers, Goel underlined the fact that Justice Narula committee was formed by the then BJP government in December 1993. It was also a BJP initiative that Nanavati Commission was formed in May 2000 by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to probe the case, the BJP president said. Goel said, “The irony of the situation is that riots took place despite a Sikh President in 1984 and the culprits remained unpunished despite a Sikh Prime Minister in 2013,” he said. The BJP president pointed out to the fact that 225 persons were accused in just five police stations in South West Delhi out of which only two have been convicted and two cases are still sub judice. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha said that the UPA government is a government of ‘scamsters’. Nepotism is rampant in this regime, alleged Prasad. |
Lid off Rs 55-lakh online fraud
New Delhi, May 4 The police said a sum of Rs 55 lakh was transferred from a Corporation Bank account in Delhi to various accounts in Vadodara through RTGS by using deceptively similar email IDs. The accused Kapil Nagle (25), a resident of Madhya Pradesh, was arrested from Vadodara, the police said. “The accused was arrested on the complaint of Sudhir Pradhan, Assistant General Manager of Corporation Bank, wherein it was alleged that one of their privileged customers, S.S Brothers, a partnership firm, has a current account at their Vasundhara Enclave branch located at Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi,” said SD Mishra, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police. Mishra said that on May 15, the Vasundhara Enclave branch of the complainant bank received an email from a deceptively similar email-ID as that of victim firm’s registered email account with the bank, requesting four RTGS transfers for an amount totalling Rs 70 lakh for credit to four different beneficiary accounts maintained with the Axis Bank and the State Bank of India. The Vasundhara Enclave branch replied to the said mail on the same date and asked for providing the cheque Nos of the said firm of which it received a reply wherein the particulars of the cheques were provided in the mail. “Thereafter the bank affected four RTGS transfers to the bank accounts mentioned in the request. One RTGS of Rs 15 lakh sent to the alleged beneficiary account returned thereby making the total amount of fraudulent transfer through three RTGS at Rs 55 lakh. The case was registered when the account holder informed the bank that no such email was sent from their end for affecting the transfers,” said Mishra. The police said that investigations revealed that the accused person along with the other accomplices procured the bank account details of the victim and thereafter by using this information transferred the money from that account to beneficiary accounts opened on the basis of fake identities. |
