AAP gives 10.5 L protest letters to CM
New Delhi, April 28 The party sent representatives to the Chief Minister's residence where the letters were received by the Additional Secretary. During a protest rally at Jantar Mantar, Kejriwal vowed that the movement against the inflated bills would continue till the tariffs are brought down and alleged that both the Congress and the BJP have cartelized the water and electricity sector in the state. "Sheila Dikshit was compelled to receive the protest letters because of the people's pressure. She had to bow to the will of the people," said Kejriwal while addressing a gathering at Jantar Mantar. "This is people's victory. Our 12 associates handed over the protest letters to the Chief Minister," he said. Kejriwal said the movement against the inflated water and electricity tariffs will continue till the prices are reduced. "Our aim is not only to submit these letters but also seek action. Our protest is unlike that of the Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Goel who simply acts for limelight. We have said we won't pay our bills and this movement will continue till the tariffs are reduced," he asserted. The former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer said the Congress government, both at the centre and in the state had failed to address the issue of water crisis in the national Capital. "Every year, the Prime Minister says that they will provide water to every household in the country. They have not been able to provide water to Delhi in the past 65 years, how they will provide water to the entire country," he asked. Most of the water tanker companies are owned by the leaders of these two parties. Besides, the government is hand in glove with the power discoms, he said. Kejriwal said that if the AAP comes to power in Delhi, its government would audit the sectors and ensure that the issues confronting the people are addressed. |
Dikshit rejects BJP charges on law and order
New Delhi, April 28 She said that he 'does not have a clue' about the administrative system as it is not her government but the Union Home Ministry which is responsible for the city police. "What surprised me is the lack of knowledge about the governance system of Delhi in no lesser person than the Delhi BJP chief. Let him criticise me, but there must be some basis for criticism," she said. "Goel was a member of Parliament. He was part of the Prime Minister's office during the NDA regime. He ought to know that the law and order does not come under the purview of Delhi government," she added |
BJP holds Aakrosh Rally
New Delhi, April 28 Speaking at the rally organized jointly by the BJP and various RWAs of North Delhi, Goel announced that the party would hold a massive protest at Ramlila Maidan if the government makes any further increase in the already-high tariff in Delhi. He demanded 30 per cent reduction in power tariff in Delhi by bringing in electricity connection portability where the consumer will have the option to choose from a group of vendors competing against one another. Goel drew comparisons with the mobile phone market to underline the fact that mobile phone services which were most expensive earlier are now the cheapest in the world. "The water crisis in Delhi is created by the mismanagement of the state government. Water can be made available to every household in Delhi by streamlining the distribution system," he said. |
Brahmin samaj thanks Hooda for job quota

They recited hymns and shalokas on the occasion. The delegation also praised Hooda's initiatives for the development of the state. |
Woman found dead, husband arrested
New Delhi, April 28 Shilpi stayed with her husband, Deepak Sapra (28) in west Delhi's Vishnu Garden locality. Deepak is a teacher. He, his parents, Yogesh and Usha, have been arrested after Shilpi's brother levelled allegations that they were demanding dowry from the deceased. The accused were caught after several raids were carried out today. "Deepak and his family were not satisfied with the dowry given to them. Soon after her marriage, they started harassing Shilpi," the officer said. The police were informed about Shilpi, who was found in an unconscious condition at the station. She was taken to the Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Shilpi had informed her family that she was going to meet a friend at Dwarka on Saturday.
