Two killed in car accident: Two occupants of a car were killed while the third sustained injuries when their vehicle had a collision with a truck near Mangewal village here on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Suresh Kumar and his wife Usha Rani of Haripur village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. While Suresh died on the spot, his wife breathed her last while being shifted to a hospital. The car driver has been admitted to a hospital where his condition was stated to be critical. The police has registered a case under Sections 279 and 304-A of Indian Penal Code against the truck driver who fled the spot.Patiala
Fatehgarh Sahib man booked for rape: A Fatehgarh Sahib resident has been booked for allegedly abducting and raping a girl of Pedan village. In her complaint, the victim alleged that Kulwinder Singh forcibly bundled her into his car and raped her at a secluded place. The victim claimed the accused even snatched her mobile phone before dumping her at the crime spot. A case has been registered at Bakshiwal police station.
Robbers kill man
in Patiala: A 54-year-old shepherd was strangulated by unidentified persons in the city on Saturday. The victim, Sucha Singh, was first spotted by his brother Sant Singh. He said his brother's body was found tied to a bed. The police said prima facie it appeared to be a case of robbery as 29 sheep were missing from the victim's barn. A case has been registered.

100 examined at free health camp: Over 100 patients were examined for diabetes at a free health camp organised by the local unit of the Bharat Vikas Parishad at Arya Samaj School here on Sunday. Unit president Mahesh Kumar said the patients were examined by a specialist, Dr Gaurav Mittal. He said the patients were also given free medicines. The camp was inaugurated by Dr HS Bali, Deputy Director, Health, Punjab.
Man arrested for raping sister-in-law: The Sunam police has arrested a 33-year-old person of Biggarwal village for allegedly raping his wife's 23-year-old sister. A case has been registered under Sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. A medical examination on the victim was conducted at the local Civil Hospital.

10-year-old boy electrocuted: Dilpreet Singh (10), a Class IV student, was electrocuted when he reportedly touched an electric pole near his native Jamarai village, 30 km from here, on Saturday. In a statement to the police, deceased's grandmother Kashmir Kaur said the victim was returning from school when the incident occurred.
