Mumbai attacks co-accused David Headley, who scouted Shiv Sena headquarters, today testified there was a plot involving his handlers in Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and terror outfit LeT to assassinate Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today made a strong call to African countries to work collectively with India to combat the scourge of terrorism. Threats posed by terrorism and other challenges like poverty eradication, sustainable development and inequitable international order were issues on which India and Africa should work together, he said at the retreat on the margins of the Second Africa India Forum Summit here.

Surinder Kaur, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, breathed her last at the PGI here today following a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 72. Admitted to the PGI on May 12, she was shifted to the ICU almost a week ago.

Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh’s dismissal of the faculty’s contribution in making the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) world-class institutions sparked a debate today, with teachers at these institutes asking Ramesh to refrain from making “insensitive” statements.
