Bangalore, July 25
At least one person was killed and seven others were injured as a series of bomb blasts rocked the country’s IT capital of Bangalore this afternoon. According to deputy commissioner of police E. Rammaiya, while one person was killed, seven others were injured, including two seriously, in the blasts that hit the city, he said.

BJP MPs file complaint with Speaker
New Delhi, July 25
Showing no signs of retreat from its stand that the UPA indulged in horse-trading to survive the trust vote in Parliament, the BJP today filed a formal complaint alleging that three of its MPs were bribed in return for support to the government. The complaint levels allegations of bribery against Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, another senior SP leader Revati Raman Singh and Congress’ strategist Ahmad Patel.

Senior IAS officer Sajjal Chakraborty, a fodder scam convict, was today sentenced to four years’ rigorous imprisonment in connection with the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 39 crore from the Chaibasa treasury in 1993-94.

Free tech education for students with 2.5 lakh family income
Chandigarh, July 25
Now more poor and not-so-poor meritorious students can hope to become engineers and corporate executives in Punjab. The state government is set to pioneer a first-of-its-kind scheme under which students having a family income of up to Rs 2.5 lakh per annum will be provided free education in engineering, management, pharmacy and architecture in technical institutions affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU) and approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
