INLD leader’s charge against Hooda govt

Chandigarh, July 16
The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has alleged that the Hooda Government was resorting to vendetta against its political adversaries, particularly INLD workers.

In a statement here today, the spokesman of the INLD, Mr Pradip Choudhary, said the registration of a false case against a senior INLD leader, Mr Sube Singh, at the "behest" of a coloniser in Tohana "was not the first attempt by the government to gag those who exposed its misdeeds."

He said earlier the government had implicated a leader of the youth wing of the INLD, Mr Umed Singh Lohan, in a murder case.

He said the government was hunting INLD workers throughout the state because the party was exposing the former's "immoral" deals with colonisers. — TNS

Kuldeep for change in legislature party leadership
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, July 16
The Haryana Congress infighting reached a new pitch after the dissident party MP, Mr Kuldeep Bishnoi, today demanded a change in the leadership of the legislature party.

Supporters of the Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, led by the General Secretary of the Haryana Youth Congress, Mr Lakhwinder Singh Lakha, reacted immediately and described Mr Bishnoi’s demand as “the result of his frustration”.

Mr Bishnoi, who is the younger son of the former Chief Minister, Mr Bhajan Lal, fired the fresh salvo after he was served a show cause notice by the party high command for his outbursts against the state government about a month ago. He also announced an agitation against the Reliance SEZ deal.

The agitation, “Aam Aadmi Adhikar Andolan”, would start from Khandsa village on July 18 to pressurise the government to pay market value to those whose land was acquired for the Reliance SEZ, to which Mr Bishnoi had been objecting. During the agitation he would visit four more villages where the land had been acquired for the SEZ, which he descibed as the biggest scam of the state.

Mr Bishnoi said Mrs Sonia Gandhi should inquire individually from all party MLAs about the performance of the Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, whom he described as “inexperienced and incompetent”.

Asked if his outbursts were attempts to force the Congress to expel him and pave the way for his family to float a separate party, Mr Bishnoi said “the Congress is in our blood. I cannot even think of quitting it.” He said Mr Bhajan Lal was not planning any new party or non-political front.

Badal seeks easy norms for Punjabi teaching in colleges
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, July 16
The President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Mr Prakash Singh Badal, has protested against the norms fixed by Haryana to teach Punjabi language in government colleges of the state.

Mr Badal sent a letter to the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, yesterday asking him to revise the norms so that those who wanted their children to learn Punjabi could do so easily.

Alleging that the norms fixed for teaching Punjabi in Haryana colleges were discriminatory, Mr Badal pointed out that a minimum of 30 students were required in a college to take up the language as an elective or compulsory subject before a teacher would be provided. But, he said, in case of music, only a minimum of 15 students were required.

Asserting that it would be a great injustice with all Punjabi-speaking people of Haryana, Mr Badal urged Mr Hooda to abolish the condition of minimum students immediately.

The accused, Rajpal Yadav (24), who was arrested yesterday, was yesterday produced in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Baljeet Singh, who remanded him in police custody for one day.

The doctors who had conducted the autopsy had established strangulation as the cause of the death. The Jatusana police had registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC.

Krishna Devi, wife of Naresh Kumar of Koyalpur village in Jhajjar district, had been serving as an auxiliary nurse-cum-midwife at the sub-health centre of Nangal Pathani village for the past several months.
