No Congress decision on power sharing in J&K 
New Delhi, October 23
The Congress today indicated that it was considering continuation of the present power-sharing arrangement in Jammu and Kashmir with the PDP and not take the post of Chief Minister on the takeover date of November 2.

Two killed as SGPC, Baba’s followers clash
Gurusar Satlani, October 23
Panic gripped the border belt adjoining Gurdwara Gurusar Satlani here following armed clash between task force of the SGPC and followers of Baba Gurpinder Singh Satlani in the late last evening here, leaving two persons dead and several injured, including Head Constable Kashmir Singh in the cross-firing.

117 feared dead in Nigerian plane crash

A Nigerian official said today that new information showed no one survived the crash of a passenger jet carrying 117 persons.

The two committees constituted by the Home Ministry to provide proper compensation and jobs to Sikhs who suffered in the 1984 riots are likely to submit their reports this week.

BSF flag march in Mau, hunt on for Ansari

The Border Security Force today staged a flag march in Mau and raids were conducted to arrest Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari wanted for inciting the post-Dasehra communal riots even as the authorities decided to relax the day curfew in the town in a phased manner tomorrow, said a PTI report.
