The Tribune Earthquake Relief Fund

Hundreds of people have died as a result of earthquake in Jammu & Kashmir. Uri and surrounding areas have been particularly affected. The loss of homes and property has been massive. The tragedy calls for urgent help from all sections of society.

Whenever there is a calamity, The Tribune readers show their magnanimity – be it the Orissa cyclone, the Gujarat earthquake or the Tsunami. We have decided to set up The Tribune Earthquake Relief Fund to collect donations from our readers to help earthquake victims in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Tribune Trust, which has decided to donate Rs 2 lakh, appeals to the readers to donate generously to The Tribune Earthquake Relief Fund. Your donations can make a difference to the families of those who have lost lives, homes and much else.

The names of all readers donating Rs 100 and above will be published in the paper.

Donations should be in the form of crossed cheques or demand drafts, payable to The Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund and sent to The Tribune Trust, Sector 29-C, Chandigarh – 160 030 or to The Tribune’s offices at various places.

The cheques and demand drafts will be sent to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund at the earliest.

All donations to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund are eligible for deduction under Section 80-G of the Income Tax Act.
